  • Question about test pipes for the B5 S4...

I'm interested in getting some test pipes to replace the stock DP's, does anybody know where I can get a set and roughly how much they cost? Also, do they come with the little O2 sensor imitator plug (to avoid having a CEL all the time). Are there any downsides to having them other than the emissions? Thanks

I have never heard of an O2 sensor simulator that worked reliably.

Depending on the software you have... some of them disable the cel caused by testpipes...
Cheapest way of getting 'testpipes' is to do the piggie way.. take them off and cutt the cat material out... otherwise aftermarket DP's are as much as the rest of your exhaust.

Tried this mod, never worked for me... throws different CEL code, rear O2 sensor response too slow.

If anyone wants a "spark plug non-fouler" spacer, I have one I custom machined to fit a VW O2 sensor, you can have it for free.

hrmm really kris? i dunno seems to work for the audi guys anyways.. i'll have to read up on it more

edit.. i guess i was perhaps on crack.. i guess its hard to do unless you update your software for test pipes then it works just fine.. some people on audiworld have stated that just gutting the 1st cat is all you need as the second one flows pretty good.

hey jordan thanks again for the security system

I guess my question is.....are Cats really that restrictive? It seems like a lot of people do it but does it really show gains? Or is it because people like to rebel against the government by hacking out their emissions equipment?

on our b5 s4s.. each side of the engine gets an exhaust out and 2 cats after each turbo.. if you gut each precat.. you get 20HP i know that for sure..

Hey Ryan, thanks for the info, and you're welcome for the system! Would piggie pipes be the same as test pipes then? I'm trying to find out where I can get test pipes, which to my understanding, are just straight pipes from the turbos down to the cat-back, with O2 sensor holes...correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks

yup test pipes are no cats at all.. AWE and APR sell them i know that.. VAST and ASP probably do too.. i think ASP does for sure
