I know that o2 sensors are there "to help the environment", but can the cause damage to other parts if they aren't functioning 100%? I ask becuase I am getting an intermittent fault code from my B2 S1 o2 sensor. I don't mind fixing it if I have to, but I would rather wait until I pull the engine for turbos and do the rest of my maintenance (one less trip under the car lol).

Re: O2 Sensor Questions...
you need the front o2 sensors to determine proper air/fuel ratios, otherwise your car will run like crap and i guess you could foul your catalytic converter. the rear sensors are just for the environment though. depends on which one is causing the trouble.KR

Re: O2 Sensor Questions...
that's a coincidence, I actually have the exact same problem. B1 S1 - intermittent! It throws me a code, usually within the first 20 km right after filling up. If I clear it right away, I usually won't get another code until I fill up again. Strangely if I leave it for awhile, I get the bank 2 sensor as well. The car still runs fine for me. The only thing that I've heard about not fixing it, is the same as Kor, it will mess up your cat. I'm getting tired of turning it off, I'll be picking up a new front driver sensor today.
anyone have any tips on installing it?~Lenny
