They probably had an performance chip, in fact yes I can see it. I hear those are certain to break the car and create an uplink with the VAG satellite system (this was negotiated between the chip manufacturers and VAG when VAG gave them pre production models to develop their tuning products) and automatically warn your local service advisor of any violations against the promise you have to sign with the lawywers now set up at all dealerships. This 436 page document lists all the cases by which you can invalidate the warranty. Here is a case in point, page 172 explicitly says that the 'driver, passenger or thief must not rest arm or other object of resistance on the window when attempting to close' .In this case VAG will know through the strain sensor that someone had their arm resting on the window when they tried to wind it up because it was raining (also sensed through the automatic windshield wiper system); and because of the extra stress from the performance chip raising the window faster (stage IVV) with the non-Kazakhstan sourced window regulator in a moist environment it obviously created the possibility of a large scale alkali metal to water reaction in the door. In order to prevent 'home servicing' the regulator is located behind the door airbag ignitors. This was obviously thought about and you can see from the wreckage that they installed a pin on a humidity controlled servo that stops the airbags actually inflating after ignition in this type of error condition.
