Does this S4 look like it has an aftermarket exhaust?

Also, the S4 badge looks like it's the old style, but it has the chrome mirrors.. this must be a 2001, not a 2001.5, right?

badge is on the wrong side thats for sure.. tips look stock as the stock tips have that little etched line before the end like you see

Certainly something not quite right... perhaps it was in an accident... badge placement is a dead giveaway.

i'll see what the dealership says. I thought something didn't look right about the back end.

Hard to tell from that pic, but it almost looks like it has brushed mirrors? Which would definately be a bonus but not stock...whoever put the badge on is a knob too...

edit: for my 1,000th post...I am officially on here way too much!

yeah those mirrors look brushed. the stock ones for the 2001.5 were chrome. The exhaust looks identical to mine, which is stock.

no response from the dealer. time to move on.

This is going to be a very long road (but worth it in the end)

Not sure what you are looking for.. but a used car lot near TuneDub had an '00 with I think 60km and HID's for sale.. Silver.

looking for a '00-'02 but i think an '02 is out of my price range. if possible i'd like to get it under 25k and not silver. my last 3 cars have been silver and i want something different.

                  #2: dark blue on black
                  #3: nogaro blue on black

oh, and get one that's had all of the important stuff done to it like the timing belt, water pump, turbos, etc. or at least have the turbos in good shape.

I'm still kind of debating if it's worth the risk in getting a slightly modded S4 with suspension/chip/exhaust already on it. Are the stock clutches able to handle 300hp?

Re: calling all B5 S4 guys

Stock clutch can handle exh/chip just fine...

As far as finding one with turbos in good shape.. not really much in the way of knowing besides the oil lines being in good shape. You have to take the engine out to get to them)
I just got my '00 with 148km, but it already had the turbos swapped out, so I feel I am pretty safe. At least I hope so. Silver wasnt my first choice, but this one came up at a really good deal... good enough i couldnt pass up.

Threadjack: I just got my JH Shortshifter installed... WORLD of DIFFERENCE! I dont care how much more it cost from toyguy/vast/B&M etc, this is one of the most noticeable mods I have done (drivetrain wise) This car should have ome like this from the factory with the solid pivot. I find myself double checking to see if the shift is actually complete!

I got mine from richview fine cars. Call them up and ask for nadeem, tell them lenny told you to call him, i've known the guy for years, and he can find you one within your specs.

Re: calling all B5 S4 guys

so the B5 S4 is on the transport canada do not import list.

is there absolutely no way to get around this and import a US-spec S4 and bring it up to Canadian specs? The prices on US S4's are like 1/2-2/3 what Canadian models are selling for.

Also, assuming that I get a great deal on a high mileage 2000 S4, but it needs the TB, water pump and turbos done, how much would that run me? I'm just trying to get a price point on a 2000 that needs work vs an '01 or '02 that doesn't.

No, there is no way to import a US-spec S4...and yes, that does suck balls!

If you plan on doing the TB work and turbos at the same time you'll save a little bit on labor as the engine will need to be out of the car anyway. About $400 for the TB kit (includes everything), $2700US for turbos, inlets, and hardware (assuming you'd go with K04's), and then labor on top of that which can be done yourself if you're mechanically inclined or between $1500 and $2500 depending on where you take it. Be prepared for others things that need replacing while you're in there though...it's never just one or two things with an S4 lol...

                              stock turbos are k03's right?

I'm going to start collecting other parts like the TBB and DV's.

how are the coil packs? any common items that give out?
