well after talking to Mike (Vrado) at the Earls, he suggested posting some details on my build for fellow Eurodrivers to see. So..... here it is;
So, heres a pic from the begging of the teardown. First i got rid of that crappy supercharger and everything else that attached to the car.
Got the engine out, for the third time since i bought it, a little messy but whatever. notice the P.O.S SPEC Stage 3 clutch that slipped like a whore.
started mounting the intercooler. Its 12x24x4" core with 3" inlets. i used a block of wood as a template. later was replaced with aluminum brackets. It actually fit quite well, I needed to trim 1/2" off the bumper rebar but that was it.
Heres a pic of the empty engine bay and the intercooler mounted.
I put the engine on a stand for the rest of the teardown, makes it much easier. here you can the the cams and ****.
drivers side of the engine. oil filter housing removed.
Got the head off, long tube headers in the background, old tiny rad and block.
Oh ya dont forget my ladies
heres a close up of the block. Cylinder 5 was a little oily but nothing major. everything was in decent shape.
I got the pistons and rods out, Now trhe block is completly stripped. Time to get it to the machine shop.
Pic of the old( stock) pistons , rods, bearing, etc. in sequence
Crank out and old spark plugs:
Heres some of my goodies, thanks to Alex at Velocity Motorsport, who provided me with this beautiful turbo. It's a Garrett GT35R .82A/R ( for now)
Also the 38mm wastegate which will later be swapped for a larger 46mm one
More goodies. A pic of my stock thickness .70" MLS gasket and ARP head studs.
Shiney goodies. Six, very sexy Pistons. CP 8.5:1 CR forged turbo pistons
While some of the parts were out i decide to polish and clear a few of them. Just for aesthetics, What the point in being fast if you look like **** doing it
Plus, I didnt want to put dirty parts on to my fancy new engine.
more to come
