found out that my car's driver side rear subframe is ripped out.
what a day i'm having.

That just sucks Simon. BMW Defect I just can't wait till my subframe goes. Keep me up to date on the progress of the repair. I'm curious how it goes becuase I'll need to go through it eventually. How is it when you’re driving?? Can you hear or feel it while driving???

some people got the stealership to repair the job for free. 6-8 weeks though

yeah.
i have searched pretty much everywhere over internet but couldn't find much about Canadians. everything was about USA.

anyways, so I found a person from Vancouver who actually got BMW Canada to pay for 70% of the repair cost. everybody else paid themself.

so... i called BMW Canada and..... of course, they NEVER heard about the issue. WTF!!!
so then I went to Edmonton BMW, and talked to Service Manager. First, he didn't know about it either, but after talk, given bodyshop quote and BMW service bulletin number, he agreed with me that this should not happen at any cause. seriously, how many cars are there having subframe ripping out. fvck. he told me that he will give BMW Canada a call and try to get something out from them by Tuesday.

If BMW Canada doesn't pay in any degree, I will fix it with my money, and will probably sell it. i'm fvcking DONE with BMW. this should be recalled by BMW.

to owners of e46, here is service bulletin number you might(wish not) need down the road. having this information will make your fight so much easier.

as far as driving, can not really feel the difference. probably because i know my subframe is ripped, i drive like grandma. lol

but you can definitely hear loud clunking sound coming from rear. thanks god i have sub in my trunk so i don't have to listen to clunking sound. driving me nuts!

good luck man, becarefull to what shop you take it to get repair it has to be an autorized bmw approved facility and as far as i know Modern Autobody is the only one. time to use turner reinforcement kit.

here is what i'm going to do.
if BMW Canada pays 50% or more of the repair cost, then i'm going to get the Turner Subframe Reinforcement Kit and get it repaired at Modern.

if not..... then... fvck the Reinforcement Kit. will be selling my car anyways.

I’m curious about something, is it possible to reinforce the sub frame to make it stronger. So it won’t crack in the future/prevent it from cracking, and if so how much would that cost??
