    Re: HID Conversions

    Say no to FK!!
Honestly.. get the Halogen E-Codes (Valeo only) and any aftermarket HID's, and one of us AW'ers can pass on the article.. if you are the slightest bit mechanically inclined you will be fine doing it yourself. (Even if you are wanting to run highbeam drls) My preference for lights was city light for DRL, then HID's for lights on... but I also only have my sidemarkers on when turning...

For a cheap but decent hid kit.. hit up the link i posted above.. doesnt get any cheaper!

      Re: HID Conversions

i'd say full OEM would be the way to go.. depends on how much you want to spend.. 1750 for lights is alot when you can get an exhaust and downpipes for almost that much or even a HIGH end set of coilovers.

        Re: HID Conversions

I agree, don't go with FK...bite the bullet and get OEM Valeo's (halogen if you want to save a bit). And then either pick up an aftermarket kit or get the OEM kit from akinboy on AZ...he's selling OEM stuff for $279USD (bulbs, ballasts, everthing), which is a very good price.

ok, scratch the Fk lights. I remember talking with Anthem here and he was telling me that with halogen projectors the HID lights still aren't that bright? I know Ryan you have the stock halagen projectors too. how are the halogen e-codes with HID? where's the cheapest place that you guys have found for e-codes?

            Re: HID Conversions

Don't get halogen e-codes if you plan on doing HID's, the lenses are different. Go with zenon e-codes and aftermarket HID kit. Mine works great.

So where did everyone get their E-codes from? That JAtuning has them for 730. That's coming from Quebec.

                  Re: HID Conversions

yea if you can get the xenon ecodes then just retrofit the HID kit into them and you'll be fine and it'll be cheaper than the OEM ones.. the HID kit i have in mine right now is H7 bulbs which aren't the euro xenons.. those are D2S so i'm hooped if i want those.. well i just have to shell out more money haha

                    Re: HID Conversions

Are the aftermarket HID kits that different than the OEM ones? I thought they all used the same bulbs? I've also contacted a person off AW that has wired his high beam as his Daytime Running Headlights, and he emailed me a schematic, so I might be trying to do that this weekend if I'm not working OT.

yeah but in your comment above you say your HID kit are H7 bulbs. if i get an aftermarket HID kit what bulbs do they come with then?

                          Re: HID Conversions

mine are H7.. i still have north american halogen projector lights (cdn standard issue ones)

when you buy a HID kit you specify what bulbs you want to match your housings.. so if you buy eurospec lights (xenon versions) then get D2S bulbs..

oh ok, did not know there was a difference. I've talked to the boys at LLTEK in montreal and they sell the E-codes for 550. Does anyone else know of another place?

                              ecstuning.com sells them

but tunerworks in town should be able to get them from AWE tuning since they are a dealer for them..

Yup they can indeed, I just ordered one (drivers side) because of the accident. I have e-code xenon housings and an H7 HID kit, works fine but I'd prefer d2s bulbs.
