I know there's a bunch of you guys out there with HID conversions, I was reading it up where it says that you need to disable your daytime running lights or the HID's wear out pretty fast. I'm just wondering what everyone has done for their cars?

Re: HID Conversions
Mine arent disabled... but I plan on doing it soon. Its as simple as pulling a fuse. Mostly for looks though...
If you want a cheap HID kit try www.vvme.com (I think its that) Good reviews from the A4 forum on AWLast edited by R-Audi; 03-01-2007, 03:50 PM.

Re: HID Conversions
yeah ryan told me there was an article on audi world about it, and it's pulling relays and jumpers and this disables the DRL. Just from driving around even in blowing snow, it's just like fog. Even though the stock headlights aren't that bright it still blinds you out in heavy fog or blowing snow. I had to turn off the headlights and i was using the DRL driving around in that, so I want to keep the DRL intact.
Since there is a Xenon version of this in an A4, I called glenmore audi and asked them how the DRL setup was, and he told me to rewire it to the highbeam bulb. Do any of you guys know how to do this or point me in the direction to find out how?~Lenny

Re: HID Conversions
Arent the DRL's the same brightness as the regular headlights? I personally wouldnt rewire anything to the highbeam.. as that will make the light shine even higher making it worse in fog/snow. (If Im reading this right)

Re: HID Conversions
i don't know about everyone elses, but my DRL aren't as bright as the low beam. I've seen some cars on AW with it. One guy even rewired his high beam so it's even brighter, but there are pictures of using the high beam as DRL. If it runs dim I really don't see a problem with it. I called a guy at Glenmore yesterday and he told me that I'd have to rewire it to the high beam bulb, but didn't tell me how to do it. I called them this morning to ask what I'm going to need and possibly order some parts to do it. I talked to a different guy this time, and he said it would be too blinding to have it on the high beam. So I have no idea now?~Lenny

Re: HID Conversions
I just turn on the low beams before I turn the ignition on and don't worry about the HID's.Jordan

Re: HID Conversions
looking into everything now. Tunerworks doesn't do their wiring, they send it to the place next door to them. He estimated 3 hours to rewire the DRL to the high beam bulb. I personally don't think it should take that long. Another option that i've found now is getting E-codes. They have a city light, which can be wired for DRL, but almost 800 for just those e-codes.~Lenny

Re: HID Conversions
The e-codes are really nice, definitely worth the money in my opinion.Jordan

Re: HID Conversions
Ok, I found this place in quebec that sells the E-codes for around $750. For another thousand 1750 shipped includes the E-codes and wired with the OEM valeo ballasts and bulbs. Is that a little too much to be paying? I called Glenmore Audi and each ballast alone is 800, and bulbs at 300 a piece.~Lenny

Re: HID Conversions
Is it worth spending the ridiculous amount just to get the OEM valeo ballasts? or just an HID kit? The other set of headlights that I am looking at is a FK angel eyes HID ready which concept1 does not carry, and then buying an HID kit from any of the places here in calgary.~Lenny
