      Re: Gti / A3 / 328?

Its true, the thing with the G35 is that the styling on the sedan is just brutal. For me its mostly the front end that ruins it all but i think the coupe has to be one of the hottest ones out there in that price range.

I guess I never looked at the A3 3.2 Quattro. I just priced one out on the webpage and it has plenty of standard features... A little bit on the pricey side though I feel.

I think its once again down to the GTI and the Bimmer. The G35 is something a friend threw out there for me, and while on paper its the sensible choice, I don't think I'd be able to bring myself to love it.

Anyways, I should have it all figured out in the next week or two so I'll keep you all posted. Thanks for all input guys!

Well for me as I said AWD is the only way to go, I found my choice in car changed huge when I got married and again when i had a baby. Im in to safety safety safety now and all else is second, I will be getting a Q7 to haul around the second baby after it is born but I was looking at other brands because I wanted the rear seat DVD but it is no good if they are dead.

Not saying the other choices are not good but man AWD rules and it always will, resale will be better as well we when AWD is offered in the same car. Or go used A3 3.2?

I believe you can get rear DVD in the Volvos (XC70, XC90 and V70/S60).

Test drive all 3 back to back and do it more than once and see which one you like!!! I like the GTI alot, But as for the audi I have only ridden in a 2L not the 3.2 so I cant say, the Bimmer is uber nice but it is like compariong apples to oarnges!

                  Re: Gti / A3 / 328?

Well just an update... starting to lean towards the Bimmer and I'm going into the dealership tomorrow to test drive and get a feeler. I'm also going to swing by the Infiniti dealership to see how I feel about the G35 Sedan or G35x Sedan.

I've taken all your words about AWD to heart so now I'm looking at a 328xi Coupe, with the all wheel drive rather than the sport package (18x8's and 6 way adjustable sport seats).

Thought about the C30... but I'm not crazy about the back end of it. I guess it'll be at the International Auto Show, so I'm thinking I *might* wait until then to purchase anything. But with the wait times for imports these days I'm anxious to order so that I can have it for most of summer.

                        Re: Gti / A3 / 328?

C30 is only front drive I believe so you'd have to get an S40 or V50.

We cross shopped the A3 vs. the V50 and ended up with the V50. But a V50 looks very "wagony" compared to a A3.

I guess one thing to consider is do you want a trunk or a hatch? The G35 and 328 are trunk while the Gti and A3 are hatch, unless you don't care.

Oh no it's totally a wagon. The A3 seems to have a bit of an identity crisis though as most people think it's a wagon when I think in reality it's more of a hatchback. So when I say it looks more "wagony" I just mean that it's not trying to be something it's not. And a lot of times if people are looking for a "wagon" people will suggest the A3.

Not that its the same as a GTI but I traded my 2.0T Jetta in for a 328.. mind you I got the 328XI so I give up some of the sportiness of the coupe for the AWD.

That being said, I don't regret it one bit. I've loved every minute of the 328, it comes with features I always wanted in a car especially the AWD, I'll never own a 2WD car again. The engine is strong enough for me, it is slower off the line but only barely, and once your moving it seems to hold up better (of course, 4-cyl vs. 6).

                                Re: Gti / A3 / 328?

Well I'm going to have it on Monday. I went with not a BMW or an A3 but a Black 2007 VW GLI fully loaded with DSG. I'll post pics once I have it, I've already seen it and I love it.

Though a loaded GLI is starting to get into Bimmer pricing territory, and is well into A3 territory I decided to save those options for a couple years down the road once my condo which is currently under construction is finished. I wasn't too crazy about paying for parking downtown every day and was less crazy about parking a Bimmer at Anderson station... That being said the one thing I wish I had was AWD, so maybe in a couple years a 335xi?? Who knows...

                                Anyways, pix are coming.
