  • 2008 M5 Touring

BMW today revealed the M5 Touring — a wagon version of its popular M5 sports car. The second-ever "M" station wagon, the 2008 M5 Touring delivers 507 horsepower at 8,250rpm from a 5.0 liter V10 engine, all while providing up to 1,650 litres of cargo space. The M5 Touring will be offered in select European markets, including the U.K., but it's unclear if it will ever come to American shores.

The M5 Touring shares a virtually identical feature list with its sedan counterpart, including a seven-speed sequential-manual transmission, high-performance wheels and tires, quad exhaust, and a driver-oriented interior. The M5 Touring accelerates to 60 mph just 0.1 seconds slower than the M5 sedan. Without the 155mph electronic limiter the new M5 Touring would be capable of achieving 200mph.

The fin antenna looks extra funny to me in those pics. Not sure why.

Maybe it looks more like a shark now???

Some info on the other 5 series models for 2008

BMW today revealed the 2008 5-Series, which receives minor visual updates for the coming model year. More importantly, however, the update introduces a new range of engines.

The base model is now the 528i, which features a 230-hp 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with Valvetronic technology and aluminum/magnesium construction. Peak horsepower comes at 6,500rpm, and peak torque is 200 lb-ft at 2,750 rpm.

Next up is the 535i, which features the same turbocharged six-cylinder engine as the BMW 335i. The engine is rated at 300 hp at 5,800 rpm and 300 lb-ft of torque at 1,400 – 5,000 rpm. The 550i is unchaged for the new model year, with 360 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque. The 2008 5-Series range is now offered with BMW's new fast-shifting six-speed automatic with electronic gear selection. Other new options include Active Cruise Control and Lane Departure Warning.

Should be fun, I'd take a 535 with the N54 engine from the 335i.

Not a fan... great engine and all, but from the side, that back end just looks totally misplaced to me...
