I feel obligated to make a comment as I know what Blair has been going through. It's a ton of work to put on a show. Those that helped Blair out would know this as well. The first few years as prez of CVD, I kinda did most of it myself thinking that nobody can do as good of a job as me so I'd just do it all. It don't work very well that way. When the club all ralley's together to help out it turns out amazing! Blair...awesome work for giving it a go.
Alot has happened on these boards in the last 2 weeks with pretty harsh comments being made and I have read them all. What has it all come to??? Cripes! I know there are two clubs and each has thier own part in this city. I respect Blair and know he's an awesome guy and has done a wikid job with NVD. Reality is is that this isn't East vs West. Each one of us chooses where they want to be and some are a part of both. Constructive comments spawn two good clubs. There's no name calling in VW clubs just like there's no crying in baseball.
Blair and NVD, just so you know, Aug 14 is my daughters baptism and therefore does not mix well with a car show when all your family comes into town for the event. I wish I could have supported and pre-registered to be there.
Please understand that these forums have a place in the two clubs but are not the clubs. The people are the clubs. You cannot understand tone of voice, sarcasm or facial expressions in a forum and therefore things are read into threads that aren't meant to be like that. We run these clubs to have fun and meet people and when we (Blair and I) read comments bashing eachothers clubs, it's hard not to take it personally.
Blair, the lines of communication are open You know that. Don't take this the wrong way but if you have any questions or want to chat about the clubs, by all means, drop a line. We'll hook it up. Hopefully we'll see you, and NVD, at Das Volks. I'll be there.
This came as pretty dissapointing, as I finally had the balls to actually enter a car show! A good thing came of it though, on thursday I will officially become a member of NVD, lookin forward to meeting everyone
Well as Simon would say, next year we will go "balls deeeep" Ohh and I will make sure I am in town for this one Blair so count on my help for whatever you need.

Its too bad the show had to be cancelled... I'm sure the next year it will work out more favourably. The concept of having an all Euro show was a great idea. Maybe an ad in the Calgary Hearald wouldh've drawn more attention?
I was going to enter my car only if it didn't rain that day, hence why I didn't pre-register (the car is a summer only car). I was also able to convience my friend with a super-fast 944 to come out.
