It is with great disappointment that I am announcing the cancellation of BahnFest 2005. The registration has been very poor despite all my efforts and as a result the show would not be a success and I feel would hurt the clubs image and pocketbook. Perhaps Chris and mine’s idea for the show was too grand but we honestly did not think it would be that hard to get 100 nice Euro cars together but I guess we were not even close.
I am also disappointed in the members of the club who did not get behind the BahnFest concept. Registration from club members was very low and I thought at least we could have had a fun club event but we get more cars to a BPs meet then for our first show. The point of the show, or any show for that matter was not to win but to have fun, meet and talk with people who share our passion for European cars and promote that passion to others.
Putting on a show of this level or any level requires a large amount of work and I found myself standing alone to complete most of the duties. One or two people cannot handle all the details of an event and I find it frustrating at the level of support that the club often provides. I am not saying that I want out, but my time is valuable to me and I do this because I care about cars and this club but I often feel that my efforts are wasted. I think for this club to grow to a level that can handle a successful car show we need some members to rise up and help with events, planning and the like and form an executive committee. We have come a long way over that last year but we still need to go further if we want to hold a BahnFest and I am not prepared to go at it alone.
I thank those of you that did support the show and you will be getting your money back as soon as possible.
