Re: SCN Edmonton July 24th
I know the feeling. Hell, I lost count of my running tab of mods and I still go to shows where people think nothing has been done to my car
Unfortunately, that's just the reality of entering these JDM style shows where flashy paint and neon rules the day. In a different type of show (ie. Volkswagen/Euro) your car would be more than show worthy. Just something to consider I guess.
Edit: Like Ryan said, we'll let Blair decide since he has the ultimate say in the number of cars we can enter. As far as I'm concerned though, the more the merrier

I think the direction of the club is going totaly wrong, how are we soppost to attract new members when we are rep'n Bling more then the cars? I feel that attatude is already settling in on some members as they wouldn't even come out for a cruise as they figured their ride was to "getto". I think somewhere along the line someone has forgotten that a car club should be about the cars AND the people. I for one enjoy going to shows and mod days etc because 1. I like to work on cars 2. it is nice to be around people who feel about their car the way I do. Do I can that I don't ahve a body kit or 18's? nope I get by with the $$ I feel like dropping into my car and enjoy seing other peoples ideas about their own. Will I be going to edmonton for the show? Yes but not to "rep" but to visit some friends, hit the mall with my woman and hang with some people who like their cars as much as I like mine.
If it's smoken it ain't broken
. Very valid point brought up by Brent and Mike. However, lets keep in mind the context of this topic... Car shows. I don't think the direction of the club has taken a downturn. The fact of the matter is that we're talking about getting cars that will be in competition with dozens, maybe hundreds of other imports. The key word here is competition. So like Mike said, there is no point in putting a stock ride into a show because, like it or not, the cars WILL be graded and compared to all others there. And that is where the whole thing of mod list size and bling come into play. Granted, those things a DO NOT matter as a whole for the club. I also enjoy just hanging out, mod days, cruises, meeting new folks, etc. But, again, we're talking about car show competition here... Not the day-to-day culture within NVD. So I hope people aren't getting offended or put off by the discussions in our car show threads.
