I know the feeling. Hell, I lost count of my running tab of mods and I still go to shows where people think nothing has been done to my car Unfortunately, that's just the reality of entering these JDM style shows where flashy paint and neon rules the day. In a different type of show (ie. Volkswagen/Euro) your car would be more than show worthy. Just something to consider I guess.

Edit: Like Ryan said, we'll let Blair decide since he has the ultimate say in the number of cars we can enter. As far as I'm concerned though, the more the merrier

I am getting the final application details worked out with the Kevin so I will pass on the details as I have them. Conrad I think that your car would fit in well with us and we just need to promote your euro JDMesque style and lets go for strength in numbers. I also have a couple of questions to ask you Edmonton people firstly if you or any of your friends are interested in doing some street promotions (flyers etc) let me know and I can help get that setup. Also I was thinking it maybe nice to have a couple of NVD girls/models at the show so if you guys have any hot friends who want to pose on cars for a day let me know

                Re: SCN Edmonton July 24th

Ahh ok I have to throw my $0.02 in on this whole thing now after I looked at the list attneding. My own personal opinion is that people like "bighead", "Silver Arrow" should be more then welcome to enter shows if they want too. First off I think Blairs rule of 18"s and a body kit is a joke since his car is entering and only has one of his own set guidlines. We had this same discusion about the last show and we ended up having 2x 20th AE just to make min cars (don't get me wrong 20ths make me drool). So now at this show we want as many cars as possible and there is more talk about women then cars? I know the phrase "we like to rep hard" has poped up before but really what are you representing? The fact that the nicest cars in the club are there even though they don't represent the majority of the cars in the club I think the direction of the club is going totaly wrong, how are we soppost to attract new members when we are rep'n Bling more then the cars? I feel that attatude is already settling in on some members as they wouldn't even come out for a cruise as they figured their ride was to "getto". I think somewhere along the line someone has forgotten that a car club should be about the cars AND the people. I for one enjoy going to shows and mod days etc because 1. I like to work on cars 2. it is nice to be around people who feel about their car the way I do. Do I can that I don't ahve a body kit or 18's? nope I get by with the $$ I feel like dropping into my car and enjoy seing other peoples ideas about their own. Will I be going to edmonton for the show? Yes but not to "rep" but to visit some friends, hit the mall with my woman and hang with some people who like their cars as much as I like mine.
                [rant mode off]

P.S. I like Derricks attitude, he has one of the nicest VW I have seen yet he would still have a nearish stock VW next to his car and be happy. I guess a nearish stock VW would look good besides his car then a Ricer car any day

The club should be more about the cars than the amount of mods they have. I think this is a good time to point out that absolutely anyone with income and a credit card can BUY some mods and have them put on. I take more pride in the fact that I own a VW (as opposed to a modified one), and I would love it just as much if it were stock.

That said, I also think that having a stock-ass ride in a car show is completely pointless. I would just go to the dealership if I wanted to see a stock vw (or for that matter to every third or fourth driveway in the city as these things are far from rare.

good points brent.. everyone has to remember that some people dont' want to mod thier cars past a certain point (colin's car is really nice with no kit, conrad's is very similair).. silver arrows car is really nice and would look awesome if it had suspension which isn't his faults its ghey ass FK's..
I used to think my car was done but I generated an entire new list of stuff to do to it to keep me happy.

ps.. any stock dub gets more style points than that integra type r with the painted dash at v8less LOL

                          Re: SCN Edmonton July 24th

Hmmm, it appears that some toes may have been stepped on in the course of this thread . Very valid point brought up by Brent and Mike. However, lets keep in mind the context of this topic... Car shows. I don't think the direction of the club has taken a downturn. The fact of the matter is that we're talking about getting cars that will be in competition with dozens, maybe hundreds of other imports. The key word here is competition. So like Mike said, there is no point in putting a stock ride into a show because, like it or not, the cars WILL be graded and compared to all others there. And that is where the whole thing of mod list size and bling come into play. Granted, those things a DO NOT matter as a whole for the club. I also enjoy just hanging out, mod days, cruises, meeting new folks, etc. But, again, we're talking about car show competition here... Not the day-to-day culture within NVD. So I hope people aren't getting offended or put off by the discussions in our car show threads.

As far as Bigheads car is concerned, I think it looks great and will be a welcome addition to our SCN lineup. It has a very OEM plus look that alot of VW owners and import fans alike would appreciate seeing. Like I said before, the more the merrier

PS - Mike why aren't you putting in the platinum gray beast into the show!?

                            Re: SCN Edmonton July 24th

I never really intended that totally stock cars should go to such shows but OEM plus cars like Bigheads shoudl really be concidered. Not only does it looks good for the club to show more flavor but it shows what the more standard cars look like so the more blinged out cars stand out even more. With a good mod list explaining everything done in detail it would help even more. I guess I should also refraise my post about the club going for a downturn, Derrick is right in the fact that the meet to meet group is awesome, it is just the direction of the "show scene" that I think needs revamping. We are not really showing off the club as a whole nor showing enough variety. Also as the last show all the cars where locked up tight, I walked around and all the other cars where opened up atleast when the owners where around, poping the hood to show the go bits would really help.
