It happened in a bunch of other classes too. That pink civic won best interior, best civic, best Honda/Acura and best in show. If a car is deemed worthy to get best in show, you'd think it's automatically implied it is best out of it's manufacturer.

I also think a big help was the spec sheets that said what was changed rather than relying on the judges to notice. I mean, one of the models was a judge.

V8 less was a great success, but I will never waste my time and money to enter any of my cars there again! Broke my balls trying to get lowjett ready,in hopes of taking at least one award.(so I was being told) Get new judges!

Honestly I think's that's because most NVD cars are not as bling as the civic's and RSX's out there. The Vdub styling tends to be alot more subtle and classy (IMO), and therefore doesn't get noticed quite as much. IMO they look alot nicer, just not as showy. I think for our Vdubs to gets REALLY noticed we need to drop some coinage on bigger turbo's and keep the hoods open. I've never been one to go with the crazy paint-job and spray painted interiors (remember that car ryan ), I just like subtle styling.

Honestly, we don't actually DO that much to our cars, if you compare them to some of the show-stoppers. Custom work is what gets respect, one-of-a-kind work of any shape or form. If we had dubs that looked like some of the REALLY nice ones on vortex, with shaved bumpers and sides, boser hoods, debadged trunk lids, custom interiors, and stuff like that, THEN you would bet you'd be picking up first place!

Well first let me thank Simon, Ryan, Bill, Deuce, Derek, and Bart for helping setup, take down and prepare and organize for the show!! I think the show was a sucess we showed that NVD is here to stay we are not afraid to go up against a honda or two.

Our cars are not at crazy show level, and may never be best in show. However I do think that the organizing and judging of VUB could use some tweak or at least a better explanation to participants. I have no doubt that the 67 Beetle is a very well done ride, just was not aware that cars were eligble for multiple categories, like VW, Euro and Aircooled. I did not think that we would clean up in the show but I thought one of our cars may have a shot at Best VW.

To me the goal of non vw based shows is education, breaking down the barriers of other import owners that do not know what a euro cluster is or an e-code. We may never win at this kind of show but I do not think that means we should not enter them, if we continue to make efforts maybe we can talk with some judges, organziers and fellow enthusiast and get the euro style known. If we get one person to buy a VW and join the club is that not worth while, plus think of all the eye-candy you get to see

Car shows are a lot of work but I still think it is fun and would like to continue to do as many as we can!

I was there for fun. I didn't expect to win anything. I was a little surprised that the judging sucked so bad, but whatever, I didn't expect to win... I just wanted to do something on the weekend and hang out and talk about cars.

Well so the next big question is there is 2 shows coming up in Edmonton July 10th V8less Urban Battles Edmonton and July 24th Sport Compact Nights Edmonton, is anyone wanting to enter these shows??

I am still of the idea that we should be hitting as many shows as possible to get us out there and have some fun. Let me know what you guys think and then I can get organizing if need be.
