WoW entrants........The 6th car

OK guys, I just got back from Ozzies and had a good long look at his car. Definitely some work that needs to be done to get it to show condition. As a daily driver, it has a lot of the typical dings, chips, etc. Fortunately, on Tornado Red, they don't seem to show up as easily. So I think I can get it looking pretty shiny for the show. Here's pics of the car today (Yes, it's dirty as hell)......





My bigger concern, is with some of the damage caused from a truck backing into the car. Both tailights are broken (but we already got replacement ones) and there is a couple deep scuffs in the rear rub strip and bumper cover. I'm a little concerned about these cuz a body shop will have to fix it and, obviously, time is a big factor......



The next "issue" is the driver's side skirt has been broken where it attaches in the rear wheel well. Fortunately, this isn't really noticable and I think we can get away with just some touch up paint and re-attaching the loose point of the skirt.......



So there it is. I need you guys to chime in here and let me know for sure if you think this is a viable entrant for the 6th car. If so, I'll get this going this weekend.

Nice work, I think it looks awesome!

You already said the taillights are being taken care of, and the sideskirt will look good with some glue and some nail polish, so the only issue is that rub mark. If you can get that taken care of, it'll be perfect!

ghetto rig the skirt.--fixed
hand wash the rear so paint is clean.. get a dealer touch up pen and well color in the black spots --fixed

It should also be possible to arrange the cars so that people tend to stay away from that part.

Yeah Simon/Ryan, ghetto repairs all the way That's what I was thinking. The idea of positioning it so the damage isn't as visible also crossed my mind. The only real body work that needs to be done then is putting on a 4mo valence. I have pieces for my car at the body shop right now, so I'll just drop the valence off with the paint code and we're rolling

derick take off his gas lid too.. it removes with a little torx.. that'll be good for color matching..

what ryan is suggesting is that you take part of the stock car off and leave it with the paint shop so they can match the paint perfectly. this is a good suggestion.

when i get my stuff painted, i give them my stock grill to paintmatch off.

when i got my stuff painted before they needed a piece to color match with and i wasn't leaving my car so the guy said oh we can use the gas lid.. pop the door take it off there you got yourself a 6x6 piece of painted plastic to match with..

Aahhh, I see. Good idea! I've never had to do that with my car being Uni Black and all.

yah, its a necessity on silver cars, especially on mine. i have the satin silver which has gold pearl mixed into it, but the paint code doesnt specifiy exactly how much of it to mix. ive had to send a number of things back to get them repainted until i was satisfied with the colour-match.

how much does it cost to get panels painted? I'm thinking about re-painting the hood for summer. (sorry for hi-jacking)

hood is probably like 300ish or 350.. colin you gonna paint your front valence to match the rear when you get it? or add a painted 4mo front? it'll look smooth and sweet

no i think a hood will be far more than that if re-installation is included. think $500sh.. the hood is a pretty big item.

I'm getting mine done for $300 flat come spring time. It's probably cheaper if you take it off and bring it in yourself though.
