  • NVD Events for 2004

Well to help get some momentum and perhaps even some planning under way this thread is for all you members to post up things you would like to see NVD undertake this year.

A few things that I already would like to see happen:

Shows, lots of shows - WoW, Farfromhome, Das Volks, Import shows
Dyno Day - maybe in the spring to get the season started off, last one was good.
Track events - Secret street as a group or a dedicated track day.

So I encourage you to put up any ideas that you would like to see the club do to help plan the next year!

Cruises are good in the summer, last year we tried to organize some drives out to Banff for example. However, one problem last year was that we were planning without much notice.

See that is why we are getting ideas for stuff in January so that when June rolls around we have things ready to go!

Perhaps a summer cruise series to areas like Bragg Creek, Banff, Cochrane, Drumheller or something like that.

I'd love to do a club track day or just do secret street as a big group.

Whenever I see an old lady slip and fall on a wet sidewalk, my first instinct is to laugh. But then I think, what if I was an ant, and she fell on me. Then it wouldn't seem quite so funny.

Just cuz you can make it on one or two tanks of fuel, doesn't mean everyone else can.

Bart, get these guys out autocrossing. I believe Race City is going to be adding autocrosses to their Friday night Secret Street program.

Called us Team Turtle...we were a pretty slow car Toyota Tercel... but always finished...

You guys should REALLY think about going to "the great Canadian Bug Show" (I think it's still called that) In Vancouver, man it was great, lot's of really sweet cars. Don't be confused by the name there were LOT'S of water cooled cars including plenty o' M4's. CVD was representin out there last year too. It's only 10 hours one way, the drive is fun, The weather is usually nice and it's the most VW's I've seen in one place. Plus then you can visit all the places you guys keep talking about (PG, Momentum). It's def. worth it. Anyway, just a thought, I prolly be going out again next year (Won't have a nice car to show this year tho ) It's still fun to look!

There's also 1st saturday in June, Cruise Nite, in Three Hills (130km NE of calgary), about 1500 cars of everything, dropscicles, old muscle, british car club, etc, all out there....I used to live there so seen it every year, and last time it was 2 bux for show and shine 3 bux for cruise entry....super cheap! All day event, and theres a swap meet and stuff going on, we could easily set up a NVD area....I used to be part of the 'street freaks' car club who organises this, so I could get an area for us...Anywho, just a thought!....oh and I love secret street!

Another idea might be to set up a BBQ at either Fish-Creek or Ed-Worthy park. Just something where everyone can cruise too, get some food, and then maybe do a cruise or photo-shoot after.
