Driven to Perform aka DTP might be Cancelled

I've been hearing a lot of rumors lately that DTP is cancelled this year.

I talked to my supervisors in Vancouver and they can't showcase there project cars at DTP because it's been cancelled in Vancouver. If it's cancelled in Vancouver the chances of Calgary's show of being cancelled is high since Vancouver's show is a lot bigger.

The website says the Vancouver and Edmonton shows are not happening but the plans are to do the Calgary and Winnipeg shows, but perhaps under different name/branding so I guess we will have to wait and see but I hope its a go!

this does not surprise me . Vancouver was so over sponsored . and Edmonton was a massive flop . they forgot that car guys make show a possibility . so treat the people that bring there cars like royalty not a side show . they have been recycling the crappiest trophies for the past couple of years . You can see the decline by looking at my wall (not bragging here) the first two years the awards were great and we were treated like the reason people attended the shows . but as the years went by this is what was left last year . its on the left next to the second place i got in 2002

Honestly I don't think the size of the trophy matters, but the last DTP was a lot about the money and sponsors and not enough about the local community for sure. Huge booths taking up 90% of the space for sponsors and then local cars get shoved so close together that spectators can't even get a look. That being said, it was still a great show and IMO a better show than world of wheels this year, and I would go back for sure to see all the cars.

I would guess the cancels are due to sponsors pulling out. World of wheels had barely any sponsors there if you noticed. No car audio shops were there, about half of the tuner shops from previous years, and half of the big corporate product sponsors as well. Economy? Dwindling interest?

So I talked to a buddy of mine and His friend is a sales representative with Euroautowerks in Calgary and DTP 2009 in Calgary is now cancelled.

Confirming with my guys in Vancouver since they are friends with the organizers.

looks like Chris at Das Auto's has to step up the game even more hahah, Euroqauke is the next big thing coming up and its WAYS away...
