    Re: The speed run!!!

Wow that is fast Kris, I def want to go see this speed run in action, it would be cool to see all the supercars out there esp the Veyron, who knows maybe I'll try to get a sponsorship from my company, or maybe I'll just have to wait till next year when project RS6'd will be complete.

              Re: The speed run!!!

i have often pondered the altitude question and maths seems to suggest we would have a higher top speed at altitude... power decrease is close to linear on NA cars but the thinner air effect on drag is square law..hmmmmm carry on

                Re: The speed run!!!

to be honest, something seems really weird about this thing. They are closing 8km of road, and turning it into a track. They are making sure cars are insured but insurance is void if you use your car on a track.

Then there is the road they are using. I don't know about anyone else but I have yet to find 2km of road smooth enough to do 200km+ on let alone 8.
At the speeds these cars are reaching for safety purposes it will likely have to be a minimum of 3 lanes wide, if not 4. I am sure many of you have seen the high speed death valley clip of the car going off the road when it got squirrley at 270+. 2 lanes becomes very narrow when cars start moving around on you at that speed.

Something about this whole thing just seems kinda bizarre, especially with the amount of risk thats involved in doing this.
