The speed run!!!

So a guy last week dropped by the dealership in his teal 40th anniversary Murcielago to get sponsorship for this event. I believe the dates are August 9th and 10th. Check out www.thespeedrun.com.

Basically its a charity event where they have organized a legal speed run. Apparently its on a police monitored, undisclosed section of highway around reddeer. Admission is $75 and from Red deer they bus you to this location. From what the guy said there will be all sorts of exotics there including a Veyron.

I'm there for sure!!! Should be very cool!

2500 is a lot to cover, otherwise i'd enter...

I don't want to have to get like 50 sponsors to afford it

$2500 is if you want toe enter your car. $75 is to spectate the speed run!

IMO, when will you ever get a chance to see a veryon flyby at 240 mph?

And no offence Kris, but I won't be going to see a cayman s at 160 mph!

Standing on the side of the road, you won't see the difference :P

I have no illusions that I own a supercar, but I don't get many chances to do nearly 300km/hr around here. Would you turn down the chance to?

Well I stand corrected. I had no idea a cayman s was that fast!!!!!

And no I wouldn't turn down the cahnce to drive that fast!!

if it wasn't so much i would enter. they'd probably get more money if they lowered it to $100 or something, soooo many ricers would do it.

that might not be as exciting if you are in the crowd though. having to pay $75 i rather see 60 exotic cars then 500 rsx's...

$100... it'll be a giant rice fest... and with that many ricers behind the wheel going as fast as they want... i would NOT be in the crowd watching...

Wow Kris you placing some good power add-ons in the car, porsche says top speed is 171mph I believe and I'm sure that figure is taken at or around sea level as well not way up here, don't know much about the Cayman S's tunability but is it pretty easy to get more power from them?

Yeah this guy went out to the salt flats in the US and ran a Cayman S stock up to speed and broke 180 Hard to say how long it took or how many miles or tailwind etc.

CS engine isn't really modable :( Can get 20-30hp more with an exhaust, intake/plenum/throttle-body upgrade and some programming.

you get to speed test your car!!?? 75 is not that bad i guess but your tires better be up to par.. i bet they check the cars out first before going..

i've done 260ish in mine already and that was pretty damn quick.. jordan and mark should be good for the 180MPH range easily

nevermind 2500 to enter you car.. holy shiz forget that.. i guess if you own a lambo,etc you can easily drop the 2500 and not care.. 75 for a bus ride to watch a car go by at 200MPH is umm kinda dumb.. i agree with kris.. 120 vs 200 won't look that much different to you if your standing there.. IMO
