again: you CAN enter on just your Birth Cert, but depending on the dickhead customs officer you get you might be forced to go inside. They are really turning into assholes at mnay of the Vancouver border crossings with people who cross on their birth certs just because they can.

The cruise won't wait for you if you get dragged inside, so if you have a passport use it. We have given everyone more than enough warning. There is always 1 or 2 people that get pulled inside and miss most of the cruise and have to play catch up to a pack of cars already going at a good pace.

Meeting Place:

June 27th (FRIDAY) 4am SHARP!
PetroCanada Parking Lot @ Bowfort Rd NW, Calgary.
This is directly across the street from Canada Olympic Park off of 16th Ave (Hwy1)

All cars should be GASSED UP and ready to go at 4am, if you are late we leave without you.
Bring the following items:
- PASSPORT (birth cert.)
- DRIVERS LICENSE
- FRS RADIO (not cobra), capable of channel 11-3. I suggest Motorola with BATTERY power not the chargeable ones as they die and then you are screwed.

If you don't show up with those 3 things you might as well not come as you wont be coming to leavenworth. Radio's are a MUST especially for the cruise to leavenworth. Missing a turn on the spaghetti junctions is not fun, you cannot turn around on the interstate and you will be left in a large city you dont know, with no clue where you are going or how to even get there if you did.

We will NOT be stopping between Calgary and Vancouver for anything but gas and a quick bite to eat.

Stops will be:
1. Golden
2. Chase (if needed for some)
3. Kamloops (food)
4. Abbotsford (fill up on cheap gas before the city)

I will try and find out a hotel close to where we need to be, individuals are responsible for their own hotels/food etc. I am thinking Best Western on Lougheed Highway in Coquitlam will be good for people. You are responsible for calling and making reservations.

We will spend the night in Vancouver, people can do what they want, we will then meet up with the rest of the Vancouver group meeting at guilford mall at 6am Saturday morning and cruise to the Leavenworth Pre-meet.


This will not be a 13 hour cruise. It should take us between 8-8.5 hours to reach Vancouver. It will not be a gumball , but if you drive an aircooled and can't manage 120 on the highway please make your own way to Vancouver.

If you don't posess the ability to drive safely in a group of cars; single file, no weaving, no excessive speeding up and slowing down, no dumb passing, please don't come as I don't want to end up in a hospital with my car in some ditch.


Please don't bring your car if it isn't capable of doing 1000+km's of highway driving in high heat. Leavenworth is notoriously warm, especially up over the pass, and while breaking down with 400 other VW's around isn't the worst thing that could happen...it isn't fun by any means. Bring the basic tools, some coolant and some oil to be safe. If you drive a mk1, bring a spare car.


PLEASE double check your car prior to leaving calgary that is has no drugs or illegal/illicit items or material. You will be crossing the border, the Border Guards DO NOT like us. If you are pulled over because you have things in your car or you have a record you will likely be left trying to catch up to a pack of fast moving cars on the interstate. We simply dont have time to wait for people. Be sure your buddy didn't leave his ziploc baggy under your back seat.....i can't imagine a few nights in US prison for drug trafficking would be fun. Same goes for weapons.

Meeting place: We will be meeting as always at the Guilford parking lot in beautiful Surrey, BC. For those of you who are unfamilar with the area Guilford Mall can be found on your GPS or google at

Time: We will be meeting up at 6:00amand leaving the mall parking lot at 6:30am sharp. It takes approximately 3 hours to get to Bellevue so we will need all the time we can get in order to be there in time.

Date: Saturday, June 28th 2008

What to Bring:
- FRS Radio - As most will agree is the best way to stay together and actually enjoy the drive as a group. We hae some real characters around here so it can be a lot of fun going back and forth on the radio
- Snacks and beverages - Make sure to bring some items if you think you'll be thirsty or hungry on the way down or back. Once we're in Leavenworth we usually get lunch somewhere, but until then it can be a little long in between
- Any tools, repair items you may need on the drive down. I usually bring a couple little items in case the unforseen happens and I end up on the side of the road.
- And of course bring a good attitude. This is a cruise for everyone, there will most likley be some familes joining us for the drive so we have to be considerate to everyone on the way down. Yes there is room to have a little fun but anyone taking other people's lives in their hands will be kindly asked to refrain from being such a jack ass

Just a quick question.. Since i live in banff. could someone on the drive give me a call when you get close to banff? That would be awesome.

Oh ya, i think RPI has some t-shirts and water bottle lined up for all of those who show up from the cruize FOR FREE... Just FYI.
