  • Official Leavenworth Cruise - June 28, 2008

Well it's been announced and the dates have been set. Saturday June 28th all hell will break loose on the infamous tiny little German town of Leavenworth tucked nicely into the Coastal Mountains of Washington State.

I will be organizing a cruise out again this year for those who want to go. We will likely leave the Friday morning before at the standard 4am time, cruise to Vancouver where we will get drunk and spend the night, wake up late, miss the Vancouver meet up of cars, and then chase them all the way to the border only to sit in the line for 2 hours waiting to cross....like what happens every year.

It will be up to everyone individually to sort out hotels again, though we'll all prolly stay at the same place as last time in coquitlam as its quick and easy and has a safe place to park the cars. I will stay in my mansion in west van and get drunk.....long story.

Saturday we cruise with the BC guys down to Leavenworth where we stop in Bellvue to meet up at the official meeting spot, get the cruise info and drivers meeting before heading out with 400+ cars to leavenworth.
Hour drive to leavenworth where we go for lunch and hang out checking out all the cars, before returning back to Vancouver for the night. Most likely drive back on the Monday or Tuesday as its Canada day long weekend.

One of the most twisty and insane drives, with some of the best cars in the Pacific Northwest Making a showing. With the cancellation of waterwagens this will be one of the premiere events of 2008. Last year was ~350 cars.

FYI the cruise to Vancouver is not a sightseeing tour, its more of a wham-bam thank you ma'am classic. we stop for gas and thats it. typical running time between calgary and the coast is 7.5 hours. Contrary to popular CVD belief it should not and does not take 2 days to reach Vancouver from Calgary.

I think my MFA usually reads around 108-120km/h for average speed throughout the trip. Nothing reckless but its definetly not a boring sunday drive

                        pretty much.

the way we work it with the timing we get through the sections we need to before any construction closes sections of road to a crawl, though with the Golden access road now complete its not as big of a worry, but lake louise at 30km/h is still the shits. it also means getting out before the RV's, and people towing boats get on the road. It's also for the most part before the cops get out, giving you some time to play.
The 4am leave also means you get into Vancouver when its not rush hour, and don't have to sit in Port Mann bridge lineups for very long. Leave any later
