  • WTB: MKIV door cylinder lock

A freiend's 2002 Golf got broken into so I'm looking for a cylinder lock. Anyone have any ideas other than going to Satan? Also, along the same lines, does anyone know if a locksmith can code these things or because the keys are all funky looking that taking the car to Satan is the only alternative? Thanks.

Pretty sure this is a dealer-ordered specific part. I had to order one when my car got broken into.

AFAIK you are going to have to make that deal with the devil.

Can't you save a buck or two, and buy the rear or passenger handle and essentially 'shave' the cylinder lock? I'm not positive, but I thought it could be done. You just need your FOB to get into the car.

There is some "lock delete" kit available if you want to rely on the remote. I heard something about a news report a few years ago detailing how easy it was to break into VW's a certain way, so VW came out with this kit.

Yah I'd be up for a blank since I have to carry 2 fobs anyway. How hard is it to replace ourselves?

Simple just need a torx screwdriver. Or a small 12point to be exact but I found a torx will work.

Thanks for all of the replies guys! I'm pretty sure a decent locksmith should be able to reconfigure the pins inside the lock. Anyhow, I'd def. be interested in buying that old lock for you. Give me a shout at 701-6520. Thanks!
