  • WTB - Both Rad Cooling Fans

Think the high speed is gone on both of my fans, if anybody has any kicking around i might need to grab them this weekend. It's either that or my FCM but i will know tonight

I have one, not sure which though. First I must check if that one is dead on my car as that happened to me last time I have away a fan lol

Thanks for the offers guys. Seems as if something is wrong with my FCM or another part of the electrical cooling system because the fans jumper on in both the low and high speed settings now

I assume you checked the fuse above the battery? I had that go once and caused issues with the fans.

Re: WTB - Both Rad Cooling Fans

Fuses are all checked and good, both for the high speed and low speed.

Diagnosing and i think it is my thermoswitch. I though the same thing last year and i'm not sure if i replaced it or not.

            Thermoswitch is F18 on diagram.
            Low speed fuse is S180
            High speed fuse is S164
            FCM is J293

Jumper pins 1&2 on thermoswitch wiring harness and low speed on both fans turns on regardless of FCM plugged in or ignition on (how it is supposed to be)
Jumper pins 2&3 on thermoswitch wiring harness and high speed on both fans turns on when FCM is plugged in and ignition on
Cannot test the FCM output for low speed fan conditions (T4A/pin2) because A/C pressure input signal is invalid (too low because i don't have any A/C system anymore)

That is basically where i'm at, fans turn on with jumpering thermoswitch so i think the thermoswitch is gone.
            Any other thoughts?

Check the voltage at the fans when they should be on? Do they turn freely by hand? The internals where the brushes are tend to melt on these fans.

Turn freely by hand, very little voltage drop when jumpering the thermoswitch
