  • WTB R32 or 24v GTI

I'm looking to buy a R32 or a mk4 gti with a 24v vr6. As for the R32, it doesn't matter to me if its a mk4 or mk5. Lower the km's the better with complete maintenance records would be nice, and the fewer the mods the better. I'm not looking for anything black or red in color, and my budget is 22g's tops. If anyone can point me in the right direction of some nice cars that would be greatly appreciated!

If you really want an r32 don't settle for a GTI. Just my two cents. Especially with the winters we hVe you'll be glad you chose an AWD vs FWD. (I already made this mistake).
If I were you is just set the filters on kijiji for all of Canada and just keep your eyes peeled.

IMO 2 completely different cars. I would go for the r32. Mk5 seem to be cheaper than mk4

PPPHHHTTTT...HAKKAS...don't even notice the ice! R32 would be my choice too...but I've also been in a few FAST ASS GTI's that I'd love to own.

For not that much more money (couple grand) you can have a 4 year newer r32 with lower kilometres (why I picked mk5 over 4). All depends on your preference of body style and transmission of course

You should also keep in mind the audi A3 3.2. Essentially the same thing as a mk5 R32 but a little cheaper and it obviously looks different.

I used to have a 98 mk3 gti with the vr6 in it but had to sell it to buy a Passat wagon for the growing family. That car got me hooked on the vr6 sound, which is the primary reason why I mentioned a mk4 vr6 gti. Similar sound and a body style I like(used to drive a mk4 2.0 slow) with slightly more creature comforts. I have never driven an R32 but if I had to choose, I like the mk5 based on the interior. The debate between manual and dsg doesn't bother me as this wont be a daily driver, I have the Passat for that. Rob here in Edmonton at westside mentioned I should also look at audi tt's and the a3, but the tt's still seem to be priced way over my budget and finding an a3 with the 3.2L Quattro is proving to be harder than finding an R32.

Thanks Jungle, I did notice that add on kijiji early but the add says the car is black, and after owning a black car I've made up my mind on never owning another dark color vehicle. It never seems like a dark colored vehicle is ever clean, even right after a hand wash, plus all the scratches and swirls..... I'm not a pro on buffing, waxes, polishing a car so for me a lighter color vehicle is more up my alley. There is a yellow TT on kijiji as well, I've been sitting on the fence about contacting the owner as I'm not sure I'm manly enough to pull it off!
