    Re: tuner for passat

I went with Malone tuning. Tried the stage 1.5 and 2. I went with the 1.5 with dynamic EGR. Great service.

      Re: tuner for passat

You get what you pay for. Malone tuning is from BC and is Canadian which means you're supporting our economy. I run his tunes and recommend him to everyone with a TDI. He's a straight up guy and always responds quickly to any questions you have.

thanks guys, called them and 299 for a tune from Malone. Didn't realize but i believe my 2005 has the factory egr. Do you know who makes/sells delete kits or do guys just leave them on. Not really looking into having issues with the car.

          Re: tuner for passat

I left mine on and got the dynamic egr option on the Malone tune. The dynamic egr tune did cause some rough idling at first but Mark checked my logs and fixed it right away.

            Re: tuner for passat

is mark the guy in abbotsford, JS performance. I called yesterday and for stage 1 its a lot cheaper then unitronics @299.
the person i mentioned that stage 1.5 isn't totally worth it, 10 more hp but more torque and maybe the trans won't handle it. what is the norm that everyone is getting installed?
That dynamic erg tune does it shut it off, read that the earlier yrs are way more prone to sooting up the intake

              Re: tuner for passat

I believe the egr will still work at sart and low temp, and the duty cycle is then reduced. I think there is a good explanation on the Malone site.
1 compared to 1.5, I guess that is persoal preference. 1.5 to 2 is a noticable difference, but for me, it was getting pretty smokey. The 10hp increase between 1 and 1.5 is a noticable difference on 134hp car. I guess I never worried too much about the tranny.

Have you dealt with the BSM replace/delete? That will probably fail before the tranny, chipped or not.....
