i think they sell one with a USB to serial adapter but i would be weary of it.. at work we tried one out for a laptop with no serial and an older palm and the adapter when plugged in would bluescreen XP everytime so we replaced the palm..

you can buy the real deal VAG-com cables from www.ross-tech.com but they are $$.. the software is umm 'boughten'

no dude i'm saying they sell one i think but its not a true USB cable its a serial cable to ODB2 then the serial end connects to a USB/serial converter and the converter plugs into the PC.

i meant we had a converter at work for trying to get an old palm to work on a tablet pc and it would bluescreen XP so i'm saying probably stay away from the converter

as for the PC you can buy old ass P1 notebooks with 95 that are perfect for a vag-com for like 50 bucks i bet off ebay

                  Re: Vagcom cables

Wow I guess everyone forgot that Martin of Sensolutions who makes all of Vag-coms hardware is in Calgary! By far vag-com is the way to go as the software is well documented for all error codes as well as data loging etc. Drop me an email if you need to get a unit and I will get you hooked up. (might even be able to swing a deal not sure though). The new Key-com and Key-USB have the software dongle built in so you don't have to worry about registration when switching computers.
