  • WTB: MK1 MK2 TDI turbo and manifold

    Hi guys,

I'm doing a turbo build on my mk1 Scirocco and the only parts I have left to find are a TDI turbo and manifold from a Mark 1 or 2 TDI. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Just to let you know, you're looking for a TD turbo, not a TDI turbo. Kind of a big difference because their are guys that drop "TDI" engines in MK1 and MK2's.

        Thanks DJ, I didn't realize there was a difference, it's a t3 that comes on the mk1 and mk2 TD's and not a GT15 correct?

Tried car-parts, cheapest one I found was $400, was kinda hoping to spend a little less. I also have an Audi 5000 sitting around I'm thinking I could also just use the k26 in that with an adapter plate.

Yeah you're right. They call it the vnt-15, but GT15 is the same thing. Have you tried vortex in the diesel classifieds? There's usually guys selling mk1 and mk2 diesel parts all the time there. http://forums.vwvortex.com/forumdisp...0-Diesel-Parts

As far as the turbo from the audi 5000, it might work with a proper adapter plate, but I think it might actually be too big for your application. Those turbo's are generally bigger and don't spool till a higher rpm, generally 4000 or higher, whereas your smaller stock td one will spoll at around 1500 rpm.

Ya after doing some digging on the Vortex I think I'll be better off going with the factory 1.6TD T3 instead of the K26 for my application. Tried Vortex diesel classifieds and I was able to find the manifold but am still looking for a TD T3 turbo. If anybody has any ideas where I could find one that would be great. I would really like to get this project rolling.
