See if you cant find a hybrid one, sits above the subframe, i roll low and there is not so much as a rockchip on it.

then get an EVO skid plate. I took a direct hit from an ice boulder the size of a watermelon the other day on Crowchild. Made hell of a noise but the skid plate saved the oil pan. That is the 4th one in the last month. BTW i ride low on my coilovers even during winter.

I now have a new one from tunedub, not a hybrid as i would have liked but i am going to order one of them for when i come back to the country. Thanks everyone.

PS I have an evo skidplate, this is what the ice boulder did to it:

Just posted on dasdubbers again about the hybrid, ignore it, just including info there.

Too bad about it, its amazing the damage those ice chunks can do though!

Skid plate did its job and saved your engine. Yes they can bend but imagine what would have happened without it.

I'm going with it's pretty safe to say that either way the oilpan would have been toast. If anything from the skidplate sitting lower I almost think the damage may have been less without the skidplate.....

Well i can promise you that you are wrong about that one due to the nature of the accident. I launched the car a few inches off of the ground off of the first ice chunk and landed my engine bay directly on top of the second ice chunk. So my oil pan would have been completely smashed to bits and i may have had to replace the oil pump and clean out the bottom end from a tow home. This way it was just a very slow leak and i made it home before the oil pressure light even went on. It was a very good thing i had the skidplate!!

Yeah it did it's job. Although, a steel skid plate might have held up better. Who knows.

WOW, maybe i am putting too much faith in the EVO skidplate. But I must say that without it I may have had to replace the oil pan at least a couple of times this year. Pity those with the plastic belly pan.

HAha my skidplate has been exceptional to me except on this one occasion. Oh well.

I have my bosses good friend going to work on my skidplate while i am away welding on structural ribs and another whole front face on the skidplate. It will be indestructible one of these days :P

And to all those thinking about getting a skidplate please do....and try to get a steel one because it probably would have held up to this wicked blow
