Re: WTB B5 S4 Interior Bits

haha when my brakes go to hell then i get BBK.. i finally figured out why people buy them.. the stupid HP2 brakes are crazy expensive to replace rotors/pads,etc on them so its easier to upgrade in the end..

i love audis in the club now muahhahahaha

I bought a StgII car... APR. It just doesnt have any suspension or brake upgrades.... so those are high on my list.. as is a trunk. Mine has a few good scratches/dents in it. Im thinking the 96 one.

        ya go euro mark..

kyle i did the clear corner mod on mine..although you can see the notches and they aren't perfect.. i'm going to buy some ecodes (just the halogen) and put my HID kit back into those someday..

as far as the wood trim.. i dont' mind it either.. i just dont like it around the shift console /ashtrary.. the rest is okay.. but i'm still going to paint it..

ps.kyle k04s??? wait until the k03s die man.. these cars are fast enough already hahahaahha

Re: WTB B5 S4 Interior Bits

I've thought about the clear corner mod, but I know as soon as I do it I'll just want e-codes...so I'll wait instead lol.

My K03's are dying...fast. I already have all of the necessary parts for a stgIII- upgrade on order ...should be here in a couple weeks!

Mark, if you actually find a mid 90's trunk lid please let me know...I've been searching high and low for one

You want me to tell you where I found one? I dunno....

I am having a real dilemma with the trunks... I found a Euro(96 one) for $350 cdn.. (plus it needs to be painted) or another for $250 cdn that needs an hour or so of work or I can get a mint S4 trunk in the same color for $175... Ahhh!

One guy in Calgary that is on AW (S4wanabe) just did the 3- install himself.. might want to talk to him.. or just get George!

Re: WTB B5 S4 Interior Bits

yea i'd just get geoge too.. i bet hes quick enough the labour wouldn't own you.. you could do it yourself if you dont' mind not having the car.. but you need all the tools/engine puller/ friends/strength to pull the engine/tranny together plus unhook the front suspension/subframe lol

kyle i thought they got replaced before you bought the car??? are they whining crazy???? or burning oil??? mine are still good.. warm up/cool down.. dont' bag until oil temp is up..

Re: WTB B5 S4 Interior Bits

K, well I decided to go with a stock trunk for $168 cdn...(no need for paint, excellent condition) So I will be nice!

Here is where you can grab the Euro trunk:
                    Afforadable Auto Wreckers;
                    5300 94 Ave SE
                    236-81165
                    Its $350 though... OUCH!

(Decided after that, I would need it painted.. (plus $200)its the silver only in 96-98 A4's)

THere is also one in Nisku Ab for $225, but it needs 1.5 hours of bodyshop work.. minor dents/dings

Re: WTB B5 S4 Interior Bits

I'll be doing the turbo install myself for sure...no need to spend another 2g's on labour when I've been working on cars all my life...and my dad own's a shop that I can use. I've already had all of the suspension out, so that part is easy...at the same time, my dad and I went under to car just to see what we'd be up against when it came time to drop the engine (I think I'll be doing it by dropping the whole subframe and everything in one piece)...honestly, it looks time consuming but not difficult

They guy I bought the car from originally said that the turbos were replaced, but before he delivered the car he told me that they were not (got in touch with the original owner)...obviously this drove the price down so it was fine with me. They whine when I'm in boost, but not super excessive (I think???..but I'd like to hear someone else car for comparison) and there are no oil leaks...I mainly just bought all the parts for piece of mind when they do go...which they will eventually. The car is ALWAYS warmed up and cooled down (I have to get up every morning and do it for the wife just so I know it's being done lol) plus it has a turbo timer installed for cool downs just in case she forgets haha!

Do you guys know if all of the interior trunk pieces (carpet, latches, etc.) are a direct swap over to the older style trunk lid? Those prices kind of suck but I want one bad!

Re: WTB B5 S4 Interior Bits

I think most parts would swap over easily.... but I havent looked inside one yet.
You should get in touch with S4wanabe though.. he did it all by himself and could offer some tips! (nice guy as well)

Oh, and I have seen a video of turbos dying.. its REALLY loud! (right before detonation anyways)

Ya, I've watched the video on AW and it's definately not that loud...but not more than 30 seconds ago, the wife called me and said "the car sounds like a train whistling"...sounds awesome, I guess I'll see when I get home...I must have put a spell on myself by talking about it all day :(

Was the video the Nogaro one? I thought it was pretty loud.....
From what I have read (besides the video) is that you WILL know when they are going.. that much louder then normal. Ah well.. you got the parts coming anyways!

So the wife was right...kinda. It was making a rediculous whistling sound when I got home but it wasn't the turbos...I actually think a hose came loose somewhere, so I'm going to rip it apart tomorrow. I scanned it with my Vag-come and it was throwing all kinds of "air injection - insufficient flow" codes...we'll see what it looks like when I get in there. If it gets to the point where I'm ripping too much stuff off, I may just keep going and get it ready to drop the subframe...

And ya, the video I saw was of the Nogaro ripping around the parking lot.
