WTB: vee-dub for under $10,000

I used to have an '02 GTI and it got totalled so now i'm looking for something new. But this time I dont want to have any loans out on it so $10,000 is pretty much my max. I will make exceptions to this if it is reeaally worth it. but only by a grand or two at the most.

I prefer a GTI, but I would consider others (including Audi)

I won't buy a car with more than 140 or 150 thousand KMs on it.

I've been checking beyond.ca and canadatrader regularly but nothing yet.

I've seen some 2000-2001 Golf's/Jetta's selling for under 10. Mind you they are 2.Slow's but there have been a few TDI's with >200,000K which is not bad for a diesel but don't know how much you want a diesel. MKIII GTI VR6's would be around that price mark also. There was a guy selling one on CVD, don't know if he still has it.

If the first one is solid then that's a pretty good deal!! Probably the cheapest/lowest km mk3's that have been available for quite a while in this province.

The second one i'm not sure about, it's been up for sale a couple times so perhaps some issues there.

yeah i'm especially stoked on the first one. problem is that as much as i love the vee-dubs i dont know enough about them to trust myself to go to edmonton and look at it to see if it's good. because i dont know what to look for, really.

i would also pounce on a decent corrado, too ... obviously.

I had a look at this MkIII GTI before xmas, was a good example, clean and well looked after and its been for sale for a while so i guess hed be open to 'negotiation' worth a look if that year is ok for you. its all stock by the way.

Corrado's are hot but as a former 'rado owner i'd say go for a mk3 vr6 instead. Not as rare or "cool" but much less of a headache and still incredibly hot.

Corrados might be a bit of a headache but I'd say worthwhile. VR6 is probably easier to manage.
