Not sure if I will get any interest on NVD but just in case:
I recently purchased these headphones. They are really amazing audiophile headphones and I cannot praise them enough. I have run them from three sources: my fairly dated audiophile minidisc deck, my Pioneer Elite receiver and a SB-Live through a Perreaux amp. It sounded great in all cases and they probably sounds pretty good through any source (although for headphones of this caliber you really should be serious about your source).
If you like very detailed, precise highs and like your bass to be very tight and controlled, then these are for you. I would not describe these headphones as sounding warm, but rather very revealing, almost ruthlessly so. You will probably not be able to tolerate low bitrate mp3's with these on. I recommend them for home listening most of all, or if you have your own office at work.
You will definitely be able to hear parts of the music you never dreamed was on the recording. You will be able to hear the hum of the amps used by the musicians. You will be able to hear the pick on the guitar strings.
Now the tough part, why am I selling them? These are open headphones, which means that they produce just as much sound out the backs of the cups as they project into your ears. I bought them for work but really underestimated how loud I like to listen to music and how audible they are to my coworkers. If you sit next to me with these on it is fairly distracting. So I have to let these go and buy some sealed headphones. I much prefer the sound and staging of open headphones, so this makes me very sad.
They have solid aluminum alloy cups with mesh backs and fine mesh over the drivers. The pads are bowl-shaped foam and reversible so you can try them in two different setups. The headband is leather hand-stiched. They are very retro-looking and quite solid.
Anyway, I am asking $275 CAD here in town (retail $300 US). If you want to chat about them just let me know.
