Yea, I actually got a whole new Xbox from a friend who owed me some money. But if anyone wants to buy this from me for cheap and then buy the part needed, feel free to ask!
That is exactly what I thought somebody might want it for! I just don't have the patience for that sort of thing. Unless of course someone wants to help me.......
Well, I looked on ebay and it looks like you can buy the drive for about $25usd (on the low end) so if you're just looking to get rid of yours for real cheap I could be interested.
Isntalling a console in a car isnt overly complicated tho, you could do it easily and hax0r your xbox at the same time (get ryan or somebody to give you some nice 'demos' - might even be able to do it Sans-Cd rom as X-Boxes have network ports and can be virtually 'unlocked' by running a variation of linux on them)

If you want to sell it let me know I have a project for one. I also have a dead board I have to fix so it would help me to figure out parts anyways (couple caps broken off the board thats all).

Make me an offer. I don't really know what to ask, but I do know that a new laser eye is about $85 or as low as $25 used. So you could get a working Xbox for pretty cheap!
I have an xbox in my car hooked up to my 7" touchscreen in-dash and I love it. Playing driving games while actually driving gets sorta distracting though so beware.
I believe Simon has a clarion in dash dvd player. As for the cd drive you can find them all over the net or I know a friend who can get one localy. Usually they don't need changing unless you have a 1.0 or 1.1 version xbox, try cleaning it first.
