There's one down in Inglewood close to where my wife works. I can't believe how expensive they are. I thought it would be fun to get a brain bucket helmet and a black leather Jacket and cruise around on one, but that's probably a recipe for pain.
August 25, 2004, Toronto, ON – Following the overwhelming success of Vespa’s return to the Canadian market earlier this year with the new ET2 and ET4 models, the Canadian Scooter Corp. introduces the latest Vespa scooter, the Granturismo. This highly anticipated scooter, manufactured by Piaggio in Italy, is arriving at authorized Canadian Vespa retailers this week.
The Granturismo, as its name implies, is a touring vehicle by design. The Granturismo is the biggest, fastest, most powerful and technologically advanced Vespa that Piaggio has produced, offering comfort and performance on even the longest of rides. With a large steel body and 200cc engine, the Vespa Granturismo is the perfect mix of classic Vespa style and state-of-the-art technology.
“Scooters have always been revered in Canada, but since the Canadian re-introduction of new Vespa scooters this spring, after an eighteen-year absence, the Canadian scooter market has grown exponentially. Canadian customers are embracing this stylish and economical mode of transportation for everything from navigating city streets to shopping in suburbia.” says Morey Chaplick, President of Canadian Scooter Corp.
The Granturismo boasts a 200cc engine, and is the first Vespa to have a four-stroke, four-valve, liquid-cooled engine, as well as 12-inch wheels, a two-disc brake system and a 20 hp maximum power output. This allows for exceptional agility and ease-of-use, especially in city riding, and an engine configuration that offers top performance, brilliant acceleration and a maximum speed of over 110 kph. The Granturismo exceeds North America’s most stringent regulations regarding noise and exhaust emissions.
“In addition to the Granturismo’s driving performance, its classic Vespa design is familiar and appealing,” says Morey Chaplick. “One look and you can tell it's a Vespa. The Granturismo is meant to satisfy the most advanced and demanding standards of performance and comfort; while simultaneously satisfying the ‘It has to be a Vespa’ need of those who want something that reflects a specific personality and lifestyle, rather than just a scooter.”
Manufactured by Piaggio in Tuscany, Italy, the first Vespa was designed in 1946 by Enrico Piaggio as a solution to transportation following the destruction of World War II. Combining the best elements of aeronautics, automobiles and motorcycles, it instantly became an icon of design and economy. In 2004, after an 18-year hiatus, the fabled Italian scooter returned to Canada to entice new generations with its efficient, entertaining and still nostalgic nature.
Available at authorized Vespa dealers throughout Canada, the Granturismo is available in three fashionable colours that will emphasize each owner’s sense of style: Steel Grey, Black, and Vintage Green. The suggested retail price of the Granturismo is $6,899.
The Toronto-based Canadian Scooter Corp. is the exclusive importer and distributor of new Vespa motor scooters in Canada. For more information on the Granturismo and its availability visit www.vespacanada.com.
There definetly seems to be more interest in Vespa's lately with the release of the new models, but $7g's seems a bit much, to buy and restore one of these old ones would cost way less and IMO a restored vintage scooter is way cooler than a new one. Or you could just buy one of these

You could also paint it flat black & go for the rat look that is really popular right now. Pretty cool scooter that you dont see much any more.
