kinda agree with you here, when I first read it I thought she was a little high on herself. To shoot a most of the feature cars for most magazines require a huge lighting rig set up to show the car at its best. There has been allot of people going out and buying nice higher end camera in the last 5 years and calling themselves photographers. I have seen many a shitty shot posted on line by these types. Not saying the op fits this mold

Well good thing I started from bottom , I used friends cameras because I could never afford one until I was 18 then I bough a 500 dollar rebel used it until all the rubber fell off and it wouldn't turn on anymore then I bought a t1i which that was the camera I got photos in a mag in. So I didn't even have a fansy camera or gear . I never got courses I learnt myself just from playing around. I finally bought a better camera after 2 years couldn't even see through my viewer . I think I've earned where I am now. Photography is a learning process ill never say I'm a professional even 10 years down the road everyday I learn something new . But when sometime starts bashing my work pfcourse I get upset but on the end it's either jealousy or ignorance . I just smile and move on . And ofcourse I am happy I got photos I a magazine because I have come along way teaching myself . I don't run around bragging about it .

I just came upon this thread and am disappointed. I am hesitant to say anything... but here we go.

First of all, I don’t know either one of these photographers personally. Jim and I have exchanged comments in a few threads and that is all.

You both seem to want to be “professional” automotive photographers. Maybe acting “professional” in a public forum is a good place to start? Petty bickering about who’s turf a website is, or who should be giving who photo tips is ridiculous. There is room out there for competition and different styles. If you can’t deal with that, then you won’t make it. Plain and simple.

Please stop making all of us photographers look like a bunch of cry babies.

I agree 100% with this. As of late the forum seems to be full of bashing and negativity and I know of a handful of long time members that no longer frequent the forums because of this. I don't mean to point fingers or call anyone out but it seems that in the past year there have been a lot of new members who have joined and caused some controversy. As a suggestion for the moderators it might be a good idea to make it mandatory for new members to read the "forum etiquette" post before being allowed to post as many of them come from vortex, beyond etc which are very different atmospheres.

i cleared myself up by saying it was a joke, most of the people in this thread havent actually met me and know im sarcastic 99% of the time. I said the turf thing as a complete joke, then tried to be nice about it afterwards, then got sh*t on and the "published" word was thrown at me.

I dont feel i am in the wrong at all by saying what i said, i am 100% supportive of putting heads together and collaborating with ideas and experiences when people share a common interest. If someone thinks im NOT like that, then you really dont know me.

I will say this, i have done this for years, i have kept it professional for a while, i make my living off photography mostly. Cars? no, thats why i wanted to offer them. I dont appreciate being looked down on after offering help to someone who clearly thinks they are better than someone because they have a facebook page and have a photo published once. I really dont, we are all adults here. My world of photography is all over the place and published constantly, just not in known car magazines so i really dont need to drop that everywhere i go.

Back on topic, we don't need to make this 2 sides. Not like if you choose me over her or vice versa, one of us isnt going to be mad. Im really, REALLY, not a jerk. I hope people that actually know me other than over a forum can vouch for that.

Really, good luck getting subjects to shoot. I apologize for seeming unnecessarily rude, remember, you cannot convey expression by typing. I cleared it up then was a bit offended as a FELLOW published photographer to be spoken down on.

I made this thread clearly to ask anyone if they would like to get photos taken , as you can see I love photography it's a passion I didn't make it to cause drama or Bragg, but yes it's true you can't tell tone over a message. I've never had the time to get to know everyone in person do I don't know what everyone's personality is so sorry if I didn't know the turf thing was a joke . I have an attitude mostly when guys comment about my photos criticizing or saying they can give tips mainly because I work oilfield and I work around Men all day who don't think I deserve to be there . So I'm
Sorry if I seem stubborn to stand off ish but that's what I'm like at first . If someone came to me in person or private message saying tips or asking to go shooting to help me I'd love. I don't just shoot euros I do a bit of everything so yes I'm new to this forum website so no one knows me this is why I try to do shoots privately And meet people alone . I didn't want to cause drama and don't want to have beef with anyone

Well said. You will notice that most of us on this forum are very laid back and very rarely have beefs with other members. For the most part we are a close-knit group because we do meet constantly outside the forums and I'm sure this causes some issues with new members because they don't understand the humor or personalities yet. I suggest you come out to some monthly meets and get to know some of the group personally. We a fairly good contingent that drives down from Red Deer for the monthly meets.

Ahh that's hard for me I work nights most of the time :( 5-3 am but who knows I can always take a night off
