    Re: 27" Sony Wega TV

    DLP, baby! DLP!

Keep the 27" for the bathroom...

Keep in mind that most "HDTV's" can't actually resolve enough resolution to properly display HD. They look really good compared to a SDTV, but in most cases, they are not really true HD's. I was just chatting with Simon at work about this, you guys must have been shopping together!

Do you have full control of the lighting in your room? If so, I'd be looking at front projectors. The picture on my SVGA DLP FP kicks the ass of most so called HDTV RPTV's, even though it's advertised resolution is much lower. I was ready to buy a huge, bulky RPTV until I saw the picture I was able to get from the Infocus I bought. I have full light control, however.

No kidding. It's funny how far behind we are considering how close we are to the US. I was in Japan about 10 yrs back visiting family and my cousin had a ~50inch HDTV set back then! Many TV stations were broadcasting in HDTV as well.

thats a nice TV but thats what i hate about TV shopping your gonna blow like 2100 on that when you can pay 500 more and get a 51/52"er but that one isnt' a projection either...

Yeah Boyd that is a nice tv, but you do always pay more for tube tvs over projection, but tht epicture is still better I think.

Hey Rob, yes Simon and I were looking at TVs on the weekend and the DLPs did look the best. My issue is my tv is located in a small spare bedroom so a wall projector would be to big for that room, but I think I will just stick with the 27" for now, it is not so far away from my bathroom too! Plus I may be dropping some big coin on some wheels soon

Keep in mind that you can run most FP's at any size you want, they are very flexible. I suspect the issue that would come up running it small would be the mounting position. If you want the visible image to be small, you usually also want the image to be fairly low. But that means that the projector has to be low, or if it is mounted up and out of the way, you have use a lot of keystoning to compensate, which can degrade the image and/or waste resolution...

Yeah if I was to mount it low then it would probably be sitting on my lap as I watch movies??

No I am not buying Simons car, just some fancy new wheels for my Jetta.
