Posting for Friend

The engine is shot and he has gave up tryin to find a decent replacment engine. I dont know much about the car but will find out more next time i get to the car.

94 Golf
Maroon exterior/tan interior
1.9L Diesel
5speed
220???km (approx. not sure till i see the car again)
BC licenced
Car is in Calgary

The overall condition is decent. Now i have no idea what its worth and we would part it but dont have a place to park it while it gets stripped.

"the crank bolt came loose and pounded the crank keyway. Also it skipped a few teeth on the timing belt in the process. When that happens, the pistons marry the valves and it's game over. The valves are most likely bent and when that happens the valves put small craters in the pistons."

That is a common problem with the diesels around that year, it has to do with not replacing the stretch bolt on the timming gear, so yes the engine is toast.

You could have yourself a nice MK3 golf diesel for under 3k and some elbow grease!

That is a common problem with the diesels around that year, it has to do with not replacing the stretch bolt on the timming gear, so yes the engine is toast.

It has the updated bolt... Someone just didn't tighten it to specifications and it walked out causing the mayhem. I can take some pics of the car if people want.
