Looking for a dirt cheap (I mean way less than $500) Mk1/2 VW..prefer GTI, but golf will do too...looking to build a claimer car (www.claimercar.com) with it, so truly condition isn't important, as long as it runs and looks reasonable...If anyone has one or knows of one, let me know!

I have a couple friends who have been trying to get me into claimer car racing for the last couple years. It is a hell of alot of fun from what I hear. Basically you take the cheapest car you can find (that runs) and race around atrack where contact is not outlawed, then at the end of the race anyone can buy your car for $450 (hence claimercar racing).Name: Brent

Yes, any spectator in the stands can "claim" a car for $420 dollars within 15 minutes of the race, any pit crew can claim a top 5 car within 15 min of the end of the race...The driver has to comply with the claim, and cars just make their way around.....I could just claim a current car, but they are all tercels, topazes, and crap......you can't run DOHC's or Turbos, and preludes are not allowed....anyhow, looks like a blast, and I want to run a rabbit!2006 Colorado Xtreme | AEM CAI | Walker exhaust | smoked glass | -1" dropped rear | Avic D3 | 8000K HID's

I was thinkign about this too - you're allowed to remove and keep your harness though, which will cost as much as the car. Problem some guys have is getting to the track - getting insurance isn't worth it so a trailer is almost required.

You are aloud to run turbos as of this year and the current owner doesn't hav eto comply with the claim I am pretty sure. If you race your car can get claimed simple as that, keeps the playing field level so someone doesn't go dumping major money into their car. The harnesses and door netting will run around $60-80 each nothing to major in expences. You have to take all the glass (other then front windshield) out, bolt in 2 support pillars and cut two big holes in the hood for fires. I have helped my buddy build a couple cars and they are pretty simple to get up and running.Name: Brent
