The MONO-COM is an ISO9141 to RS232 interface adapter, and will work with most diagnostic or tuning PC software that requires a single serial port connection. Unlike most other ISO9141 adapters, the MONO-COM design does not employ “OPTO-Coupler” typology. This means that the MONO-COM will work with any serial port at high baud rates (115.2kbps), and does not require the PC host program to “power” the serial port.
Functionally, the MONO-COM supports single K line diagnostic communications with an L line wake up sequence. Designed as a pass-through type, the K line receive and K line transmit are linked to the RS232 Tx and Rx lines respectively. The L line is controlled by the RS232 RTS line.
The MONO-COM design employs SMT components, and where applicable uses an automotive grade. The K line driver is intrinsically protected from overload: it can sustain K line shorts to Vbattery.
The MONO-COM enclosure is integrated with the OBDII connector and terminates in a serial cable. (See picture below) The OBDII connector is designed to the SAE J1962 specifications. Special attention is paid to proper fitting in European Vehicles - Audi, BMW, Seat, Skoda, Volvo, Volkswagen.
