  • WTB: 17" Set of Monte Carlos or Longbeaches

Title pretty much says it all. Spring is on the way and it's time for some "real" wheels.

I haven't totally decided which ones I want to run with but I love 'em both. The GLI in my parkade switched to his BBS wheels yesterday and I'm feeling a little jealous.

Personally I would save up for 18's. You won't notice a harsher ride and 18 inch wheels look far better on a VW.

If you're set on OEM wheels, check out

I have been thinking about 18s but with a 2.0 I don't want to be even slower.

I also figure the used market will be a touch cheaper than spending $600 on a wheel.

Ok, yes, it's friday afternoon and I'm writing before I'm reading. $600 was for all four - that's not bad!

          Any locals I wonder???

            600 Canadian in Vancouver for LB's or Monte's won't be beat I don't think.

One thing to remember is that 17's aren't faster than 18's or necessarilly lighter. Longbeaches are easilly 25 lbs each without rubber, and you can get 18's as light as 17 lbs.

Shipping from there should be quick and cheap. I have shipped tires from BC and it wasn't expensive at all.

I don't think any NVD'ers are selling right now that I know of... usually they are posted up in the Classifieds.

I nearly forgot - Ryan, all the world really needs is a little cowbell.

Thanks for the offer to sell Ryan, I'm looking for something with a smoother outer lip (not a big lip, just smooth).

Let's open this up to include any and all suggestions! Keep them coming everyone!

You can probably find some RC's or 20th 18's for around $1000, which is pretty cheap for 18's.

You can get some cheap 17's or 18's on clearance, maybe 200cad each or something like that, might look better than the OEM options. Depends on what kind of look you like.

I've heard the 20thAE's had a problem with white marks or something and were being recalled?

I think MAYBE the 337 edition RC's were problematic but I haven't heard any problems with the Aristo's from the 20ths... then again maybe I just didn't notice.

I think a lot of people just don't take care of their wheels then demand a recall. Thats what VW gets for putting 18" high end BBS and OZ wheels on their cars while other companies just have crap.
