  • Free Hood?

Not really sure where to post this but.....My new hood is on and my slightly "shorter" Golf hood is now sitting at my house. I was going to take it to the dump but I thought maybe someone might be interested in it.

the front of it is folded up but I'd say that 2/3's of it is still straight, I thought someone might want some extra metal for doing a bozer or a shave or something and needed a big piece of steel. It's yours if you want it, otherwise i'll just throw it away.

heh heh, well I was kinda thinking about your car actually, I figured the OEM sheet metal might match up rather well.

Well you would think between your hood, my hood and the flimsy Speedtech boser extension I have I could get something sweet, just need to find a cheap welder.....

                    Re: Free Hood?

Well the shape is ok, but the metal is very very thin, atleast for the mk3 so it seems like it would not give as good of a finished edge and could be hard to work with. However at the very least it could make a very good template.

Who are you getting to do the welding Ryan?

I never thought I'd say this but....I wonder if Techworks could do it? (if they are still around). their welding was good at least.

I also know some people in Edmonton but thought that was out of scope for this, but if you don't care I could call them up and see if they are able to do it (for a very good price )

Any body shop should be able to do it really...

                          I recently found this place:

                          http://www.impossible.ca/

Thinking of seeing what they can do with plastic bumpers

I can check into it Blair. My buddy has his welding ticket, although I'm not sure if he still has access to a good/solid welder since he switched to become a firefighter. I'll call him and ask if you want..... although I'm not sure it would work if he is in Edmonton :S Your call

Well I dont really want to pay body shop prices when a metal person can probably get it close to paint stage. I am not sure if the Edmonton thing would work out or not???
