  • Feeler: 17/22 (BEW) --- 2.5" Stainless Downpipe

Hey guys, more of a feeler for now but will become serious if the offer to buy is there. Planning on towing a small trailer so an upsize to my turbo is coming down the pipe to tackle those EGTs in the mountains.

Currently the 17/22 has approx 125k on it. Have had an EGT gauge since day one and have never driven it passed 1450 for any period of time. Also have had a boost valve since day one so it has never seen a spike higher than 28. Its been bullet proof.
I'm thinking $1000 obo. Some people will say I'm out to lunch but this is definitely a supply and demand item.

Second is the downpipe. As far as I know its TT downpipe, now I've heard complaints about them but I've never had an issue. includes the bung for the BEW sensor. IIRC there is a very small hole in the flex pipe, its never bothered me and I've never noticed any extra soot anywhere back there due to it. Has a cat, but it has been gutted.
    Thinking $400 obo

Bigger than a 17-22?!?! Nice man. That's going to be lots of fun! Hope you have some bigger internals either installed or on order as well. At least that's what I was told if I wanted to go bigger. Good luck man!

Thanks dJ, as far as I've heard the bottom end of the BEW is more robust than the ALH so it should be fine. Unfortunately the head is the weak spot. Specifically the cam on the BEW. I'm thinking that's going to be coming in a year or two so at that time I'll be doing some head work. In the mean time I'll be doing the head studs and head bolts for some "cheap" insurance. I'll be keeping the boost lower until support is added.

Never seen a dyno but roughly 180-190whp and somewhere in the realm of 280-300tq

Ass dyno and relatable set ups.

Edit: here's a thread I started before I got it. I do have upgraded injectors so the numbers on stock injectors are bumped up quite a but. http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread...=287010&page=4

if your hitting those hp numbers torque must be more like 350 ish? either way that s pretty nice

The torque curve for the BEW engine is a little lower than an ALH, but makes up for it in HP. In such a small car though, yes it feels rather monstrous.
