  • Fs: 2004 pg gli

    2004 Jetta GLI.
    267xxx Kms
    $4000 OBO

So there's a lot I'd like to say about this car.
I've owned this car for just over 7 years, there's definitely been ups and downs, but I love this car and I'm bummed to have to sell er.
Over the past couple years my career has picked up (3rd restaurant to watch over) and my family has grown (baby #2). Never thought that I'd be the dude to sell his "project". But as much as I chased the dream of having a clean af pg gli with all the bells and whistles, it became obvious that at this point in my life I don't have the free time to make the dream a reality and the car keeps getting older and things get in the way. So I'm hoping that there's someone out there that'll be able to have some fun with it.

I'll go about the usual "good, bad, ugly" format that usually gets posted when it comes to the older vehicles for sale:

    So here we go:

    Good:
-Oil changed every 5000kms with full synth lubro moly toptec 4100 and xl Mann filter
-Oil changed 1000 Kms ago as well as the following:
    -Ngk bk7re copper plugs
-Compression test all cylinders checked out.
    -New Gates Kevlar timing belt,
    -New water pump,
    -New tensioner
    -Full coolant flush
    -New rad fan
    -Fresh power steering fluid
    -Fresh brake fluid flush
    -ignition switch replaced 250xxx
-Fuel pump replaced at around 200xxx Kms
    -Fuel filter at 210xxx
    -new battery at 230xxx
-cam tensioner gasket, valve cover gasket and half moon seal at 220xxx
    -new windshield last summer.
-front brakes have plenty of life left
-new passenger rear unpainted gli caliper
-glow shift boost gauge on steering wheel pod.
-original gli recaros no tears or rips, but 12 years of body wear.
    -aem cone filter
    -neuspeed strut brace.
    -apr r1 diverted valve
    -forge smic
    -apr stage 1 tune.
    -pelequin LSD
-original 18" bbs rc wheels with Pirelli p zero Nero rubber (2 brand new replaced last summer because of highway punctures, other 2 have a couple seasons of wear on them.)
-haggard Winter steelies with spent rubber (was planning on replacing for next winter)
-super clean original gli headlights in a box (crappy eBay halo headlights installed)
    -gli monster mats
-02m 6 speed transmission with 120xxxkms (see below) ((uninstalled))
-various tools, fluids, minor parts, plastic engine covers, nuts and bolts. (Oil plug, oil cooler gasket, pancake pipe to smic hose section)

    Bad(ish):
-PCV system run to a diy catch can

    Bad:
-Rear bumper was backed into in the okotoks Sobeys parking lot.
-hood and a bit of front fenders have hail damage (long story... But the plan was to notch fill a pick n pull hood, work on fenders with my welder friend, paint, baseless grill etc)
-front springs broke in the same spot each side, so it sits a bit lower in the front (was planning on doing air)
-front valence cracked a bit, definitely repairable.
-fenders paint flaking on the usual spot.
-fenders paint and metal damage by rocker panel
-rocker panel damage under side skirt
-driver seat lumbar support broken (wanted a re-upholstering anyways)
    -tape deck doesn't work
    -needs rear brake refresh.
-3m has seen better days and should be replaced
-front end paint chips and wear

    Ugly:
    -drivetrain is janky:
    - it does drive, I drove it to work in the city and could get around alright, but it needs to be fixed. Took it to tunedub and they said throw out bearing and transmission. You can hear the "zizzing" of interference when you fully disengage the clutch. So I've blocked up the clutch pedal back so that the pedal doesn't travel that far back.
    - Shifting into first is good if there isn't a lot of stop and go clutching.
    - Shifting into second at low rpms
    - Shifting the rest of the way up is pretty clear, not fast, but it shifts without interference and I can rev high in 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc and have some fun on the highway.
    - Downshifting around 2nd gear is janky but if I rev match its super clean.
-driver side rear brake caliper should be replaced.
    - went to bleed my rear brakes and the bleeder screw came out with the threads on the passenger side. it looked like the previous owner used some kind of jb weld product to keep the screw in. I replaced the caliper and bled the line, went to the driver side rear and it looks like the same thing.
    -e brake sticks.

I think that's it, sorry about the long winded post. If there's any other questions, let me know.

I would be interested in the BBS wheels and the projector lights if you decide to part out.

              Thanks

I would be interested in a few body panels if you plan on parting it out.

                  Ok, part out it is.
Going to delete this thread in a couple days.
Will repost after I have time to disassemble and get prices figured out.
Any pms I've gotten so far I'll honor as first dibs.
