Hi everyone, I don't post here much, but I figured I'd give you guys the first kick at the cat before I posted the car up on Kijiji. Rather see it go to an enthusiast and get fixed up.
I'm looking to sell my 04 R32 "project". The car runs and drives just fine, but needs a lot of work to make it perfect, so I'll call it a project for now and it is priced as such. I don't necessarily need to sell it, but I've had to buy a second truck for work, and would like to downsize the fleet a bit. With two trucks, a car, and four bikes I'm starting to run out of space!
The car has a little over 200,000km on it, I'll confirm the odometer reading when i get a chance. Its pretty much stock, with the exception of H&R coilovers and front sway bar. Its in somewhat rough shape overall, but definitely fixable.
In the interest of full disclosure, here's a rough list of problems with the car. I'm sure you will find more as you dig into the car, but I'm not interested in hiding anything as I got screwed over when purchasing the car as a lot of this wasn't disclosed to me at the time. Good news is that it makes it a perfect platform for a full build, since you'd likely replace a lot of this stuff anyways.
-Haldex doesn't work, vagcom code is “no communication with haldex controller”. Its either the plug connection/wire, or the controller itself. At this mileage the controller seems likely.
-Windshield needs replacement, has cracks in drivers view and passenger side.
-Two of the wheels are bent slightly, not holding air very well. Not cracked though, most likely repairable, but there is curbing and scuffing on the wheels.. The tires are winter tires and are almost brand new though.
-Driver’s seat lumbar is broken, the wires have been removed as they snapped and poked through the seat. seat also has ripped stitching on bolster. All the other seats are pretty good.
-Some of the aluminum dash trim is broken, may be repairable.
-Bumper and sideskirt are cracked. Previous owner said a tire shop lowered it onto a jack. Definitely fixable with plastic welding or epoxy, but it would need to be repainted.
-General paint quality isn’t the best. lots of rock chips, a few scuffs, and one fender looks to have been repainted and the paint texture is a little off from the rest of the car.
-Clunky strut mount bushings, really common problem as I’m sure you know.
-the little retracting strings are missing from the trunk cover thing.
-one exhaust tip doesn't line up, the clamp holding it to the muffler is busted and the tip is pushed in a bit.
-I think the fender liners are toast on the front. car was pretty low and burned through them in a few spots.
-Timing chains have not been replaced, they aren't rattling, but its probably a good idea anyways.
That's what I got off the top of my head. Like I said, its a project and there will be other stuff.
The car is being stored at my parents farm east of Red Deer right now, about a 2.5hr drive from calgary. I can be reached either by email at kspruyt01@gmail.com or by PM. Let me know if you have any questions about the car.
