I am looking to get rid of my 2001 GTI. It's seen better days but I figure someone might be interested in a parts car or a winter beater. I have owned the car since 2009 and it has been a great vehicle but it's starting to show it's age and needs some work.
The Good:
-The engine is strong and runs great.
-I had a new Optima Red Top battery put into it last summer.
-The car is fitted with an aftermarket Pioneer double din stereo that sounds great. I can throw an old sub/amp/box in too.
-The car also has aftermarket headlights, an aftermarket intake, Monster Mats and blacked out emblems.
-The centre console and vents were swapped out for their Jetta equivalents.
The Bad
-The throw out bearing is going and will need to be replaced to drive the car daily. This involves dropping the transmission.
-The starter sticks sometimes and might eventually need to be replaced. Common MK4 issue.
-The body has seen better days, there are a few good scrapes and dings on the car.
-The interior has some peeling vinyl that you can replace if you want.
-The rear hatch struts no longer hold the hatch open.
Looking to get around $1800. I'm not looking for trades at this time as I just picked up a MK6 GTI, cash only!
