Yeah it can be repaired but body work is never cheap unless you can DIY.

To be honest, I'd fix that last. I'd do everything on the list I made up after I'd looked at it and talked with CA. Some of what he'd mentioned to me made it onto that list. It's a good place to start, if you go look at it in person.

I wouldn't pay a dime more than $10k.

Honestly speaking, as it stands, it would be a better idea to source one for sale in the states on your own and import that.

If you want to pay that much for an avant, I'll sell you mine. Floors are Mint!

seems like a hell of a deal on the Volvo, when i was looking in the spring I could only find them for ~$18,000 with more kms.

B5 chassis is.... snug. But manageable. Requires a certain degree of gangster lean behind the wheel to get comfortable.

Word of advice, go for best comfort, don't do "Snug" I bet with you up front, you can fit only a toddler in the rear. No Leg room, Am I right?

C5 platform is perfect, but no 6MT 2.7T's on the market w/ sport package.

LoL, I sold exactly that just under 2 yrs ago for the S6.

I'd go for the V70R all the way. The R model's lines are a beaut; I bet it will age well, be a classic even. If you test drive it, make sure the adjustable dampeners are in functional and good shape; else it is a pricey repair.

Sure the W8 is a unicorn, but it is still a passat. I never been fond of the front ends of that generation. The round treatment of the lights just doesn't work with the bulge of the front end imho.

The S4 is also a beaut, especially the interior. But who has the time to invest in the amount of TLC it needs? Unless you want a project car...

Honestly if you have a friend who owns a transmission shop and a friend who owns a body shop get the S4. Volvos are crap compared to an Audi and Mercedes. I know this is going to upset many but I work at a Volvo specialist body shop and they are not the same as a German car. Plus for $10k that S4 is totally worth saving.
Also, that Mercedes is hideous. I mean like yeah rare wagon blah blah but yuck, 0/10 would not buy.
Just my 2 cents.

Volvo's are the odd one out aren't they. They look so strange.

Also with the height thing... I'm 6'4" and my S4 and A4's were the only cars I amply fit in. My C63 is comfortable, but the seat is maxed out at low and back settings...
