how is a 19x8.5 too big for a mk4 GTI? lots of guys run 19's with 235/35r19 tires on a mk4. the bolt pattern wont work but if they were 5/100 they'd fit no problem.

Let me rephrase.. Too big in my opinion AND I already have wheels that I'm happy with. But I think 18 is pushing it. 19 would just look silly. But hey, to each his own. I prefer less wheel and more low.
