For sale is my 98 Jetta GT. I picked this car up in january of 2011 with 211,000Kms, and since then have done ALOT of preventative and needed maintenance, The car runs incredible, and will for many many years to come. All items listed below have either been installed by myself (apprentice technician specializing in VW/Audi) or a certified VW Audi Shop.
The good:
- All maintenance up to date
- Great on gas (45-50 to fill with 500+- 50 kms to a tank)
- Body has very little rust (passenger door is the worst of it)
- Interior is clean and tastefully modded
- Mechanic maintained
- Tires have 65-70% Tread left on both sets (comes with two sets)
- Always starts in the winter (thanks to the battery)
- Heats up within 3-5 minutes of driving even in the dead of winter
- Two sets of Tires and rims
- Does not leak any fluids
Maintenance:
- Timing belt and waterpump done >1000kms Ago (waterpump failed)
- New Luk Clutch kit with singlemass flywheel >2000kms (clutch let go)
- OEM Bosch distributor (Hall Sender gave up)
- Oil changes done every 8000Kms with Fuchs Titan GT1 5W-40
-OEM VW/Audi 650CCA Diesel battery
- Transmission flush and fill with GM Syncromesh
- Front and rear brakes done (pads and rotors, front rotors are Zimmerman Cross drilled)
- New Empi CV axles (both sides)
- Febi Ball joints both sides
- Front wheel bearings with new Meyle hubs
- Bosch 02 Sensors (both had failed)
- Mk2 FK cup kit with New Febi strut mounts and bearings
- Fuel pump and filter (OEM VDO pump and Mann filter)
- Differential Flange seals
- Transmission input shaft and pushrod seals (done with clutch)
- Throwout bearing, clutch release plate and retainer clip for pressure plate (done with clutch)
- OEM Copper core spark plugs
- OBD1 Instrument cluster (replaced due to broken gas gauge)
- Colorstat Thermostat (replaced with waterpump)
Aftermarket/Modifications
- TT Short shifter kit with all new bushings and hardware
- Trek bucket seats
- MK4 Wolfsburg 3 spoke steering wheel with working turn signal cancel
- OBDI Cluster (matches interior) **NOT CORRECT KMS**
- Mk4 Shift knob and boot
- FK Mk2 Cup kit
- JVC Deck with Aux and USB input
- Manual Adjust clutch cable with all bushings and hardware
The bad:
Previous owner had an aftermarket exhaust added, which did not include a catalytic converter. Due to this, there are two emissions codes which illuminate the check engine light, but do not effect performance or engine health. The exhaust is also a little loud for my liking, but i will include a stock MK3 manifold that will quiet down the exhaust a fair bit.
The transmission does not have reverse. This is a very common problem with the 020 gearboxes, and a good transmission can be found quite easily for less than 300 due to the fact that mk1,2,3 020 1.8L, 2.0L and 16V transmission can be interchanged - as long as the flanges are 100mm, and the input shaft is of the same size.
Windsheild is cracked, but will pass inspection. I was hit with a golf ball sized rock 2 days after purchase of the car.
Due to the transmission issue, if the buyer opts for it, I can put a new or junkyard transmission in, with them covering the cost of the transmission, but the labor of RNR will be free.
