Its main benefit is to TILT the engine, to alleviate drivers side axle bind. By TILTING the motor instead of just raising it you don't have to worry about notching the other side, or anything like that. I had a 3/4" spacer on my previous car along with a shaved inner cup and could roll aired down all day long with zero engine bind.
This is very very hard to find as it sits, i had to search for close to a year to find just this one. The 1/2" has the benefit of not raising the motor mount too much into the wiring waterfall that comes down the engine bay, this means you can install it under without having to raise the waterfall up or bending it out of the way. Even be able to install with a stock airbox (which you can't with the only available 1" version).
Again you cannot buy just the drivers side, and more rarely you can't find 1/2" spacers around anywhere anymore.
