Just a quick reminder to be on the lookout for water damaged cars for sale. Do your homework, have any suspected flood cars inspected at a licensed facility.

All flood cars are considered non repairable, for use as parts cars only

Be wary of brand new forum members with no posts other than a great deal in a for sale ad

Honestly I would just not buy any used car in Alberta for the next few months, and then afterwards be very careful.

20,000 cars flooded in Calgary alone + 100,000 (give or take 1 or 2) in High River.........

Have had a few towed into the shop already asking if they are fixable....... HA!

Yup we had a Mini towed in that had water up to the windows, we were told it was just at the door, line across the dash said otherwise.

Complete write off. Anyone want to buy a track mini?

I don't see any need to sticky this, its common sense that after a huge disaster you should be careful.

It's also common sense not to let the wallet inspector to inspect your wallet, but I'm sure someones done it.

I agree with Danny that you should ALWAYS do your due dilligence to research a car before buying, but I guess it never hurts to sticky this. However since this is stickied, I would say to change the title to be a bit more descriptive. Someone handing over their wallet to the wallet inspector will probably not click on a sticky which just says "PSA Exercise Caution".

I say change it to something like "Exercise caution buying used vehicles due to flooding" or "Beware of used cars sold after flooding"

Jan, let me know when you go to get your wallett inspected. Mine is due for inspection as well so I might come with you and see if we can get a 2 for 1 deal.

fair enough, but in my opinion, i think its stupid when people dont get ppi's before purchasing a vehicle. that 100 bucks or whatever can save you thousands of dollars in the long run.

I don't think this should be a debate on whether or not this should be a thread. I can assume that theres lots of people on this forum that feel like they know enough about cars and feel like they do not need to take a vehicle in for an inspection. This thread just serves as a reminder to look into a sale more than most people might for the next while.

I've never had a PPI on any vehicle I've ever purchased and never had any issues.
